Leave it to the kids on Steam Greenlight to introduce the gaming audience to something that would have caused the FCC to have a heart attack if they came across it back in the 1950s. Well, thankfully we’re not back in the 1950s and that has enabled us to encounter some of the weird, wild and wacky games that slide across the Steam Greenlight community service, one of which includes the autoerotic simulator from Robert Yang about masturbating a gay car called. The name of the game? The oh-so-subtle Stick Shift.
I’m sure David Cronenberg would be proud someone finally made a game that goes hand in hand with his movie Crash.
The title sounds kind of homoerotic that’s because it’s supposed to be. You can check out the two minute trailer for the dark and shifty game below.
The game is described as a short title focusing around an erotic night drive. The comments for the YouTube video above were disabled so unfortunately I couldn’t see what kind of “top kek” comments would have spawned from the community after seeing the game.
The gameplay seems to revolve around fondling the car’s stick shift as if it were the the driver’s schlong. Players will stroke it, move it around and rub it like Al Franken massaging the head of James Carville while watching reruns of David Lettermen saying Bill O’Reilly is full of crap.
I’m pretty sure most people are probably asking why the creator made this game and what was the motivation? According to Yang, he states…
“This short game tries to expand eroticism in games beyond a cutscene. What if sex in games was something we did, instead of something we obtained? One way to do sex is to see sex everywhere. Sex here, sex there, sex behind yonder tree!… and sex through the tender caresses that seduce gay cars everywhere.”
Unsurprisingly, this has made it around the circles of the ”progressive” outlets, but the Steam Greenlight community doesn’t seem to be anywhere near as impressed with Stick Shift as the new-age “Social Justice Warrior” games media.
A few people have declared that they “want it”, while others have resorted to waving it off, with Tarn IV writing…
“You said this game is already available on Itch.io, please just let it stay there… and not on Steam.”
Others simply stated “NO” while GuyOnAChair echoed a few sentiments along the lines of the game being a joke that’s good for less than two minutes…
“Liked Heavy Rain? Now feel the emoshuns of stick shift. Sorry but no. This joke can’t be funny for more than 1 minute at most.”
Guest1982 simply stated “And people say Greenlight is dead”. Button Mash was a little less enthused about the title, writing…
“Isn’t this one of those game Laura Kane talked about on Jim’s podcast? Just like a creepy handjob to a car game…”
It may or may not make it through Steam’s Greenlight. While there is a real dearth of handjob car games there isn’t much of a market clamoring for them.
Robert Yang, nonetheless, has a game that has people talking and the price of “free” has a few more who are actually intrigued enough to want to play the game.
