Dissidia Final Fantasy NT Gameplay Walkthrough

Square Enix and Koei Tecmo’s Dissidia Final Fantasy NT for the PS4 is finally out in the West, and a bunch of gamers are finally able get their hands on the game and play through the hardcore action-RPG. For gamers looking for a little help there is a Dissidia: Final Fantasy NT story campaign walkthrough guide available.

There’s a complete gameplay playlist available, featuring all 10 chapters of the game’s story mode, which clocks in at around eight hours. You can check it out below, courtesy of Shirrako.

So first thing is first… once you start a new game you’ll be able to select from one of seven different summons to help aid you in your journey.

The different summons will give you different bonuses during combat, just like other typical summons in Final Fantasy games.

A floating Moogle will give you a tutorial to help you learn the basics for the controls. If you need help with the combat and controls, there’s a Dissidia Final Fantasy NT skill and controls guide to help you out.

If you choose to skip the tutorial you’ll be brought to the main menu where you can either play through the Story Mode or do the online battle mode or the offline battle mode.

In the offline mode you can actually setup the character skills, battle preferences, and other customization features to fit your play-style. Once you’re done messing around with that you can start the first memory in the story mode featuring Noctis.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT - Noctis

You can unlock the story chapters by playing through the battle modes. If you play through the offline Gauntlet modes you can earn what’s called Memory Stocks. These stocks are gathered and can be used in the story mode to unlock the new cutscenes.

The first three cinematics feature the heroes and villains being summoned to make their way toward the tower. You’ll need to select the Standard Match from the online or offline battle menu, and defeat your opponents in the arena.

The gauntlet will show you how many battles you must complete in order to earn the rewards to unlock the next memory. Treasures are given out based on score milestones you make during battle, so the better you do the more points you’ll earn.

Keep in mind that the harder difficulties will really test your skills. If you aren’t entirely ace at killing all of your opponents with ease. Unlike Dragon Ball FighterZ, the CPU fighters in the offline mode are absolutely vicious and you will need to stay on your guard when doing the Gauntlet matches.

After you complete the Gauntlets, you can reap some of your rewards in the Treasure Mode, which is located on the main menu. You can unlock new ranks, titles, and skins for the characters by participating in offline or online matches.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT – Materia

The next cinematic introduces Materia, a god of the realm, and Spiritus, a vengeful god who wants to rule the land through cruelty.

You’ll have to do another series of battles to unlock the next memory. You can choose from the heroes or the villains for your team, but it’s best to find characters that have good synergy or at least an affinity for the kind of fighting style that you prefer to use.

You’ll be able to battle quicker doing easier fights but you’ll gain more rewards from harder fights. Choosing the difficulty will determine how long it will take you to complete the six matches during a Gauntlet run.

Keep in mind that if you lose a Gauntlet match you’ll have to start from scratch. Also, you can lose a match if one of your teammates die, so be sure to pick teammates that you don’t have to babysit. Alternatively, you could level up the characters you want as your buddies and always keep them by your side during the Gauntlet Mode.

After the first handful of cutscenes, you’ll finally be able to unlock the first Story Mode battle sequence , which features Cloud and Bartz taking on Exdeath and Sephiroth.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT - Cloud and Bartz

Unlike the other offline matches or the online mode, you will not be able to customize your character loadout or abilities in the Story Mode bonus levels. They have preset skills, preset appearances, and preset weapons. You’ll have to just make do with what they provide you.

On the upside you will be able to use the summons you’ve unlocked and you can choose which character you can play as.

The upper path of the story mode follows the story of Exdeath and Sephiroth as they attempt to take control of the void.

The cinematics involving Bartz and Cloud showcase a lot of bromance… but Bartz is quickly brought up to speed about how the only way to save the world is to fight in order to generate energy, which is taken right out of the King of Fighters storyline.

In the next story segment you’ll unlock another cinematic and a fight against the boss Shiva to finish Cloud and Bartz’ story arc.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT - Shantotto

Try not to be distracted by Shiva’s powerful assets… otherwise she can kill you quick.

She’ll rely on a lot of magic that’s hard to avoid. It’s best to either keep your distance and lob projectiles at her or get in close and move as quickly as possible and get in close and unleash hard hitting melee attacks on her.

She’ll also create a clone you’ll need to kill, it’s best to take out her clone before the two of them start double-teaming you with projectiles.

If you can manage to defeat Shiva in the story mode, you’ll be able to unlock the battle in the game’s offline battle mode as well. Defeating Shiva will complete Cloud and Bartz’ story arc.

The next story segment involves the Narshe Outskirts and is an Entrance Exam that leads into the second row story story elements.

The battle will involve Firion, Tidus and Shantotto. It’s a silver-level battle and will be against three bandits.

They aren’t particularly difficult and yo ushould be able to defeat them pretty easily by focusing on the Bandit’s Caprice, whose life goes down pretty quickly if you can corner.

This will unlock the next story segment, Riftward Bound.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT - Prattle Before Battle

Kefka will hop in and steal away Exdeath and Tidus into a portal, which will reveal that Kefka, Exdeath and Ultimecia have lured them into a trap, which leads to Heroine’s Combat, where Firion, Shontotto and Tidus will take on the three villains after Ultimecia and Shontotto get ultra catty with each other.

If you play as Shontotto and focus on using projectiles on Ultimecia, you can take her out really quickly since she doesn’t have much life.

After another cinematic you’ll need to unlock the battle involving Jecht, Tidus and Firion versus Exdeath, Kefka and Ultimecia. If you don’t have the memories, just do more matches in the Gauntlet Mode.

If you use Jecht, it’s easy to separate the three villains and take them out with combos.

If you’re successful and you manage to unlock the next fight, you’ll battle against the boss Leviathan.

You’ll only be able to attack it on its head, so aerial attacks are a must. It has a tail whip when you get too close, an upward head thrust when you’re in front of it, a geyser attack and a water beam attack. The beam attack shoots directly in front of it, so try to battle it from the side when you see it revving up to fire its water beam cannon.

After its life gets halfway down it’ll start using a large AOE attack where it creates a water whirlwind. Get outside of the attack area by moving to the far edge of the arena and waiting for it to finish the attack.

Defeating the Leviathan will unlock the “All Grown Up” cinematic.

This will allow you to unlock the third story tier, which features the Onion Knight, Vaan, and Y’shtola. The trio will team up to fight against specters in the marketplace.

After unlocking another memory stock, you’ll be able to view the cinematic, which sees Vaan, Onion Knight and Y’shtola figuring out that all the different locations are cooked up from the memories of all the people that Materia assembled in the world.

The trio will end meeting Kefka.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT - Y'shtola

You’ll need to take out Kefka, but the fight plays out very much like a boss fight. Use the cores that spawn on the map to ramp up your summon so you can bring them into the arena and dwindle your opponent’s life.

If you have a memory token you can use to unlock the next cinematic, where the trio will have to retreat after they encounter the fiends devouring the entire worlds.

After you complete a series of the Story Trials in the Story Mode, they’ll also appear in the offline modes where you can play through them again if you want.

In the third story trial the next battle will be against the boss Ifrit. You’ll still need to stick with Y’shtola, Vaan and the Onion Knight.

Ifrit has a lot of AOE fire attacks, obviously. It’s best to use Y’shtola who can lob projectiles at Ifrit from a distance while also being agile enough to dodge his fireball attacks.

If you focus on using long range projectile attacks you can literally zone Ifrit until you whittle down his life and kill him. One smart tactic is to use a bunch of DOT attacks such as virus and poison to keep stacking chipaway damage on his HP.

This will complete the third story trial arc and unlock the lead-in to the fourth and fifth story paths, which involves two groups of the hero characters exploring two different aspects of the broken world.

In the fourth arc Cecil, Notcis and the Warrior of Light will venture through the portals to heed Materia’s call. Their first fight is against some basic specters.

In the next cinematic it’s revealed that the trio are out to meet Spiritus, the opposing god who challenged Materia.

If you have enough story stocks you can then fight more specters – if you don’t have enough story stocks, you’ll need to unlock more.

In the next cinematic it’ll be revealed that the void eater is a giant golden dragon as they attempt to reach the crystal.

If you have 1 stock for the next story segment, it will unlock a story cinematic, a battle and another story cinematic.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT - Warrior of Light

The story battle for the trio of pretty boys finally reaps some fruitful progress in the form of them facing off against Garland from the original Final Fantasy.

In the cinematic Garland will reveal that Spiritus isn’t all that bad a guy, and so the Warrior of Light pledges to address Materia about the matter. However, Noctis decides to institute some of his boy band leadership skills and suggests they continue to Spiritus and ask him to use his teleporting communication device. They concur that Noctis’ plan is sound… so sound in fact that even Garland is impressed with the boy band leader’s wisdom and tags along with them, like a bigger, beefier, well armored version of Gladiolus.

Once you unlock the next stock you’ll face off against Bahamut.

You’ll have an option of four characters to choose from, including Garland, Warrior of Light, Cecil and Noctis. However, only three of them appear on the battlefield, so choose wisely. It’s probably best to play as the Warrior of Light, since Garland is slow and difficult to use when getting in close to Bahamut.

After defeating Bahamut, the final arc is the one that remains, featuring Terra Branford, Squall Lionheart, Lightning and Zidane. Their first sequence is actually a battle against some specters. It’s a pretty easy fight, but you’ll only be able to choose between three of the four heroes.

You’ll need two stocks to unlock many of the memory sequences in the fifth arc. So it might be best to stock up on… stocks.

The next cinematic will reveal that the dragon eating away all the memories is known as a planesgorger.

Zidane and Terra end up fighting against Ramuh in order to get him to join their team. Ramuh uses a lot of AOE lightning attacks and direction ground attacks. Pay attention to where he attacks and stay out of the way while peppering him with melee strikes.

When his life is halfway gone he’ll start putting lightning portals on the ground; get in close and hit him with combos while also dodging his other standard AOE attacks. It won’t be an easy fight, so steel skills.

Odin is the next boss you’ll have to fight, directly after Ramuh. He rides a six-legged horses and mostly stays stationary in the early goings, firing a laser, raining down spikes and stomping the ground. Keep yin the air and pepper him with melee attacks. Lightning is a good option for Odin due to her speed.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT – Espers

You’ll then have to defeat Alexander to finally recruit him to the heroes’ cause after another cinematic plays in which Alexander begins attacking Kujo, Zidane and Terra.

The fight against Alexander is a hefty one, as it centers around dodging his massive energy blasts.
