Resident Evil 2 Remake Sold 4.2 Million Copies While Monster Hunter World Hits 12.4 Million

Capcom revealed some of the numbers for their top-selling brands so far, and at the very front of the pack is Monster Hunter: World, which has moved more than 12.4 million copies across PS4, Xbox One, and on Steam for PC. Resident Evil 2 Remake managed to make the top 10 list of Capcom’s best selling titles, moving more than 4.2 million copies since releasing back in January of 2019.

Niche Gamer picked up the news from over on the Capcom Platinum Titles page, where the cumulative sales for their top-selling titles were listed. We see that for Capcom’s most recent titles, Monster Hunter: World leads the pack with 12.4 million units sold across home consoles and PC, followed by Resident Evil 2 Remake with 4.2 million units sold across PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and Devil May Cry 5 rounding out their top games in the last two years with 2.1 million copies sold.

Both Resident Evil 2 Remake and Devil May Cry 5 are still a far cry from the other nine best-selling games in Capcom’s repertoire, with Resident Evil 5 still being Capcom’s best selling Resident Evil title in the history’s franchise with 7.5 million units, followed by Resident Evil 6 with 7.3 million units, and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard with 6.4 million units.

I’m sure Resident Evil 2 Remake will continue to scale in sales so long as modders keep making sweet, sweet, boner culture-approved modifications like Claire’s see-through bodysuit. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, just check out the stream below courtesy of YouTuber Mr. X.

Modding usually helps keep sales fresh on the PC side of things, so it will be interesting to see how the game scales. We know for a fact that it’s already moved well over 1 million copies on PC thanks to the data from Steam Spy, so PC gamers definitely make up a sizable portion of the audience.

Anyway, Capcom seems to be riding high right now on games that are doing fairly decent on the market, save for Dead Rising 4 and Street Fighter V.
