Heartfelt Games is planning on launching an indie side-scroller called Alphaman on November 19th, 2019 for PC gamers. The retro throwback pays homage to the old Mega Man titles from the NES era, complete with sprite-based graphics and challenge-based gameplay mechanics.
The core of the game centers around players taking on the role of Alpha, an advanced android who is put to task to take down a terrorist group known as the Red Bombers. The group has put into practice a nefarious plan to control domestic service droids and turn them violent and evil.
Players will have to traverse through multiple platform-based stages set in the dense urban environments of 20XX, where Alpha must work with his cute operator to tackle various bosses across seven distinct stages, all while unlocking new abilities and powers along the way.
You can check out the trailer for Alphaman below to get an idea of what the gameplay is like.
The game has actual 8-bit inspired visuals instead of the bloppy pixelated nastiness that most hipsters from out of San Francisco attempt to pass off as “retro”.
The game looks like it comes right out of the NES era from the early-to-mid 1980s.
Players will have to jump, wall-hop, run, and shoot enemies through various stages where you’ll have to avoid spikes, endless pits, projectiles, and more.
Unlike the old Mega Man games, though, you’ll have access to more than just your peashooter and a few attachments. You can also make use of Alpha’s melee attacks, which allow him to do perform jump-cancels into slash strikes, as well as combine his powers to perform dash swipes as well.
If you’ve grown tired of all the woke games and ridiculous propaganda pandering taking place in the mainstream space, you can check out Alphaman and its retro-inspired gameplay come November 19th. For more information feel free to wishlist the game or visit the Steam store page.
