In the past, Jeremy Hambly, from TheQuartering, on his private account has engaged in a bit of what the kids call Shitlordery, mild trolling, and generally inoffensive goofballing. As this is current year all of those are now capital offenses of the most egregious kind and so in the eyes of his detractors he must be cancelled.
Given this is the standard, I probably should cancel my Senate run. Looks like we won’t be making Congress tolerable again. For unlike TheQuartering, I have committed the sin of furry degeneracy, so am reviled by both the Left and the Right.
In all seriousness, the hyper sensitivities of the cancel culture crowd are absurd. The only really offensive thing about TheQuartering’s antics on his personal account amount to is how absolutely weak they are. They’re the kind of shenanigans people look back on with cringe at their past. Not the kind of behaviors that should cost people sponsorships and their livelihood.
Not content just attempting to cancel TheQuartering over stupid antics and unable to find anything he actually has said or done to end his career over, people have taken to inventing fictitious accusations. Wedge, the owner of the YouTube channel The Mana Source, is the latest contender to attempt to behead the Quartering.
The incident Wedge is referring to is the assault Jeremy experienced at the hands of Matt Loter who accused Jeremy of being a “Nazi”. In the social justice tradition of punching a Nazi, Matt assaulted Jeremy at a bar resulting in the two of them being banned from the convention. Causing the Quartering financial losses and damaging his reputation as Matt took to social media to paint Jeremy as a Nazi.
At no point during the altercation or thereafter was there a contention that Jeremy had said the word “Faggot,” at someone or in general. Making the entire accusation entirely baseless as Matt walked up to Jeremy according to witnesses, asked his name, and proceeded to repeatedly punch him.
Unlike other people who are merely content to take the high road and virtue signal how tolerant they are while letting social justice warriors get away with literal assault, he took Matt Loter to court and won. The case concluded with a settlement and in a rare instance involving a forced apology and recantation of his previous statements of Jeremy being a “Nazi.”
What triggered this was another user prodding Wedge (Anthony) over using money donated to his gofundme for an emergency surgery on his back for Magic the Gathering artwork. At which point he was accused of being a scam artist.
Regardless of the validity of those accusations, he proceeded to deflect towards TheQuartering claiming he yelled “Faggot,” in a public bar despite both witnesses and the courts agreeing the incident occurred over the accusation that he was a Nazi.
I’m unfamiliar with the ever shifting rules of cancel culture, but if you use a word that is considered a “problematic slur” while accusing someone else of saying it who provably didn’t say it, does that count as saying it? Whatever the rule may be it is rather bold to attack a person with a history of refusing to back down.
