Some lessons are hard learned with no amount of forewarning being able to convince people of the true nature of things. Sometimes it is because of pure obstinance on the part of the listener, other times it is because the cautionary tale is so absurd it can be nothing else but the work of fiction. Even if true in part it has likely been exaggerated, so when we warn people of the nature of GamerGhazi, of the nature of ResetEra people don’t believe they can be that bad, but then the lessons are learned by the growth of their pool of victims. Jeremy “TheQuartering” Hambly has become the latest in a long line of people to learn the tales of monsters are far from the work of fiction or exaggeration as GamerGhazi has chosen him for their latest harassment campaign.
His targeting wasn’t for any indecency or transgression he may have undertaken against them or their community. In fact he was quick to eagerly enter the subreddit to establish a dialog and clear up any miscommunication only to be in typical SJW fashion banned within 5 minute of posting. For those of you that remember, yes this is the same subreddit the censorious administration of /r/Games ran to after they shut down the /r/games subreddit on April first.
Not unfamiliar with social justice warriors TheQuartering has attempted to maintain a position of neutrality in his coverage regardless of the topic. His critics have evolved over the last year from their earlier works where they would lob accusations that TheQuartering was erroneous in his coverage or critiqued the video for its stance, only to be exposed when it came out either the proof was provided or TheQuartering had in fact said what the detractor claimed he hadn’t. Then there’s their more mature form where they can’t dismiss him as wrong so they dismiss him as covering topics with a bad intention at heart. As if that made a lick of difference on whether he was right or not.
It’s like saying a tabloid is right, but it’s a tabloid. You’re just giving them free advertisement and clout.
In each of TheQuartering’s videos he has made it a point to an obnoxious degree to instill into his audience to not engage with Zoe Quinn. He has said repeatedly ad nauseam to instead have any conversation about Quinn in the comments below and to ignore her entirely. Why? For the sole reason that she feeds on attention and he doesn’t want to contribute to the cancel culture he opposes.
Regardless of his extremely carefully communicated message to not be part of the problem, Ghazi has decided to spread vicious lies and target him for deplatforming.
The level of vileness this group demonstrates is so outrageous it is borderline insanity. Leaving those that witnessed confused as to where to or even how to respond to it. Yet with the distinct understanding that these individual have long since abandoned anything approaching reason or civility.
Moderators over at Ghazi have begun a half-hearted damage control effort. Rather than remove the thread that stands in violation of Reddit’s anti harassment policy, they have locked it. Leaving the relevant information of who to harass up for all members to see. Instead, as you go through the thread you see the most damning comments removed leaving up a slew of nasty comments directed his way.
Reading through them you’d think the Quartering has killed John Wick’s puppy, caused the gulf oil spill, or published Fallout 76.
You’d be wrong, though.
This all stems from his coverage of Zoe Quinn including when The Post Millennial exposed her entire story as fraudulent, not once, but twice over amongst other revelations that emerged over the course of the story’s development.
Any reasonable damage control effort should begin by completely removing any examples demonstrating the coordination of harassment against TheQuartering, so late comers cannot capture screenshots to share to the internet. Yet when I arrived after a good deal of the more offending comments were removed there was still examples of coordinating harassment.
Some outside observers still may have the notion that these individuals comprise Ghazy are merely the most toxic of gamers they’ve been warned about. Fortunately they never waste the opportunity to virtue signal how much they hate both gaming and gamers.
Despite everything the subreddit has done and continues to do in direct violation of Reddit’s new Harassment Policy it is permitted to stay up. Keep in mind this is by the same company with a laundry list of punishing various individuals for wrongthink, shutting down meme pages because it offends their sensibilities and even quarantined the largest Conservative political board upon request.
While these people are allowed to carry out the nastiest examples of hate speech and conduct harassment campaigns with impunity if you so much as disagree with progressive talking points you can be banned from social media for hate speech. The double standards are on display for all to see and these people are content to prove to everyone what kind of people they really are. A lesson many more will have to learn the hard way.
