Rumors Claim Resident Evil 3 Remake in the Works

Like the undead, rumors have once again risen of the upcoming Resident Evil 3 remake being in development. Coming courtesy of Spawn Wave, they attempt to confirm what previous rumors have stated: that the game will be released in 2020 and an official announcement will come sooner rather than later.

This isn’t the first time rumors have circulated about the remake. Previous rumors from 4chan also stated that a Resident Evil 3 remake was in development along with a remake of Dino Crisis and a brand new sequel in the form of Resident Evil 8. Said rumors would be later copied by other posters who added their own details such as a Devil May Cry expansion and Viewtiful Joe 1&2 remake, but the original went into the most detail of the projects, which sadly cannot be located anymore.

Later another insider via Twitter would confirm the development of the Remake saying it was being developed by an external team and not the team that was tasked with remaking Resident Evil 2.

To add validity to the previous rumors Resident Evil 8 has been confirmed in development earlier this month by Capcom. As previous rumors stated it is slated for release on next generation consoles and is in early development.

I’m not going to sugar coat my absolute disdain for the reimagining that was Resident Evil 2. As both a remake and a game outside visual fidelity it was an abysmal experience. Yet it developed such a cult following that if you dared to highlight any of the game’s numerous flaws such as its wokeness, story, G-Virus outbreak, bullet sponge enemies that defy physics, etc., you were treated as if you had just denounced Jesus in the 14th century.

Frankly if the rumors are true and the game has been handed off to another studio that is for the best.

Where the director of the last game removed several enemy types and scenes because he deemed them unrealistic while turning a 90s era laboratory into a science fiction wreck while destroying the narrative congruence between the remake and the rest of the franchise, these other developers stand a chance of producing a product that respects where it came from rather than treats it was absolute contempt.

When the official announcement is finally made we’ll see if we have a sexy kickass version of Jill Valentine that the fans deserve or the SJWified, ugly, “don’t need no man” version.
