Sonic The Hedgehog Movie Trailer Showcases Redesigned Sonic

After receiving massive amounts of feedback and criticism over the depiction of Sonic during the debut trailer of Paramount Pictures’ Sonic The Hedgehog movie, the team decided to take the feedback to heart and redesign Sonic so he no longer looked like a perverted DeviantArt cosplayer with a fetish for furries, tapping into his inner child molester. The latest trailer gives fans a look at what the newly redesigned Sonic looks like in the upcoming film.

The revelation came via a tweet from the official Sonic Movie Twitter account, informing everyone about the change.

Gotta. Go. Fast! Check out the brand new trailer for #SonicMovie and #CatchSonic in theatres February 14! pic.twitter.com/Ro1bRyd07W

If you’re unable to view the trailer or the content isn’t showing up, don’t worry because Universal made sure to make everyone aware of the new redesign by plastering the trailer all over YouTube.

The trailer is three minutes long, and amazingly they don’t spoil every single aspect about the film within the three minute runtime.

Sonic has also undergone a major overhaul. His body no longer looks like a middle-aged midget. They put him on gloves. They enlarged his eyes. They changed his legs so they no longer appear to be sexy, and they put him on his original red shoes. Overall, every aspect of the change is an upgrade.

Sonic Nunchucks

I do have to admit that it’s hard to think positively about this movie knowing what Sonic used to look like and the images that appeared in the original trailer that were so astronomically traumatizing. I mean, Sonic looked like a pervert in a blue furry costume trying to groom kids from Discord.

For those of you who don’t remember the original trailer, you can check it out below.

The new trailer takes a more fun-filled approach to the concept of the movie, making it look like some kind of a getaway roadtrip rather than a meme-filled mockery of Sega’s original franchise.

How well it’ll do in theaters when it arrives on February 14th, 2020 is anyone’s guess – and while the movie never should have been made in the first place, at least they’re on the right track… artistically speaking.
