Terminator: Resistance Gameplay Walkthrough

Teyon and Reef Entertainment’s Terminator: Resistance for PC, PS4, and Xbox One is strangely receiving a lot of positive feedback and reviews… from real gamers. I know, I know… it’s shocking, right? Well, a lot of people seem to feel as if Teyon did a great job in capturing the feel and the ominous atmosphere of the future war that director James Cameron teased in the first and second Terminator films. For those of you who picked up a copy but are finding yourself running into some trouble in some of the levels, there is a gameplay walkthrough available for Terminator: Resistance.

YouTuber PlayGames has a 10 video playlist covering the game from start to finish. It’s not terribly long, clocking in at just a handful of hours. You can check out the Terminator: Resistance walkthrough below, which is thankfully commentary-free.

The game starts off hot.

A survivalist is executed right in front of you as you attempt to flee from a Terminator by rolling under a destroyed van.

Once you get up, start running and follow the voice as you make your way to a dilapidated building.

Grab the pipe on the chair by pressing Square on the PS4’s DualShock to pick up items, which is ‘X’ on the Xbox One controller.

There’s a medikit in the supply box on the wall; take it.

Follow the nav point until you reach the ultravision goggles, which you can activate to see through walls and spot nearby Terminators by pressing in the right thumbstick.

You’ll need to use this often to spot robot enemies.

Grab the pistol on the desk and head through the air vent. You can also see in dark areas by pressing down on the D-pad, which will activate your flashlight.

Stealthily sneak past the spiders or shoot them. It will take a few shots to take them down.

Terminator Resistance – Jennifer

You’ll meet up with Jennifer and her brother.

Escort them through the navpoints. It’s pretty simple. Just follow them until there’s a short cinematic of the Terminators patrolling the area.

When you reach the checkpoint you’ll have the option of picking up a uest to earn more loot and items by searching for survivors.

You can grab the quest from the black guy to rescue more survivors from the previous area. He’ll give you an UZI to complete the mission. Simply follow the nav points until you reach the yellow areas marked on the map. Not all of the nav markers have survivors there.

You’ll encounter both spiders and armored patrol units. You can take them out with small arms fire, so don’t be afraid to engage them. However, if you don’t want to risk the firefight, you can use stealth to get around the larger robot enemies.

When Rivers calls out for someone and there’s no answer, then just leave the area.

You’ll find Laura at the small cell behind the gated door. She’ll only join you until after you destroyed the armored spider.

Once you rescue Laura you can head back to the evacuation point to complete the mission.

There are some scout drones that you’ll need to take down in order to complete the mission. Destroy all the scouts to unlock the next level.

Terminator Resistance - Colin

Hideout

After a short cinematic you’ll unlock a crafting table inside the rundown building.

The crafting table will enable you to craft ammo, health supplies, and more. You’ll only be able to craft items by collecting scrap metal from the robots you destroy.

Essentially, the more combat you engage in, the more resources you unlock; the more resources you unlock, the more items you can craft.

When you get done crafting talk to Colin, he will have a side-quest for you. Talk to Jennifer, she will have a side-quest for you. Talk to Ryan, he will have a side-quest for you, too.

When you get done talking to everyone, you can exit the compound and begin the missions by going up to the gate and holding down Square on the DualShock or ‘X’ on the Xbox controller.

They will introduce you to the weapon wheel, which you can bring up by holding down the left bumper. You can also customize your weapon wheel loadout by pressing up on the digital pad.

Rules of Survival

You can press the touchpad or the select button on the Xbox controller to activate the map.

Side-quests are marked on your map as blue markers while main quest objectives are yellow.

Again, you can either stealth your way around the map or just Rambo your way through the machines.

If you have the “Not a Toy” mission, you’ll be able to get inside the warehouse by going through the busted open vent.

Take the supplies on the shelf and make your way around to the front of the diner. Take the supplies and then head up the planks to reach the second floor. Alternatively, head to the back of the diner and unlock the door. There’s also some steps you can go up that will lead you to the top of the diner. Open the door with the blue marker and grab the dog.

Terminator Resistance - Warehouse

For the main mission, in order to get into the warehouse use the pipebomb on the crumbling wall to break it open and get inside.

Follow the marker to the command post and examine the objective items.

You’ll then have to leave the warehouse and head north to the next resistance outpost.

If you encounter any Skynet plasma storage units you can destroy them as well.

Also be sure to conserve on your ammo, because it’s in short supply. Make sure you fire in short bursts and aim for the red eyes of the machines to destroy them quickly.

If you do the Tools For Ryan side-quest you will find 3 skill points in a booklet inside the office where the tools are located.

There’s also some ammo in there, too. Head through the busted open air vent inside the office and then make your way down the into the storage area to take the toolbox.

You can also take on a mission to destroy the plasma depot, but it’s guarded by a plasma turret and an armored spider. You can attempt to stealth your way through there, and destroy the computer controller to complete the mission.

Trek north toward the resistance base. It’s guarded by an armored spider.

You can save your game and craft some supplies, as well as check the map to complete the mission.

Make your way to the factory to proceed to the next level once you get done scavenging for supplies.

Terminator Resistance - The Stranger

Factory

You’ll need to find Colin.

Make your way through the abandoned factory.

Once you find Colin – who is impaled on a pillar by a Terminator – a cinematic will play.

The Stranger from Resident Evil 4 will come to your rescue by smashing an old semi into the Terminator.

You can talk to the NPCs at the hideout and then once you get done talking to them you can proceed to the next mission where you need to meet up with Jennifer and infiltrate the hospital.

Hospitality

Jennifer will give you a sound decoy and you’ll also be able to acquire a shotgun as you make your way to the hospital. Follow the navpoint down the steps into the crafting area where you can acquire a hacking computer.

You’ll now be able to hack Skynet terminals and computer systems.

You can also upgrade Rivers by opening up the menu and going into the skill tree to add skill points to certain abilities.

Follow the pathway down into the parking garage of the hospital where you can sneak around past the turrets and spider patrols.

This is the same segment from the EGX demo, where you have to play the hacking mini-game, which is like Frogger. Move the icon across the node pathways until you reach the end, avoiding the white lines in the process.

Sneak past the turrets or hack them, head through the door and then proceed through the hospital. Avoid the T-800s and hide behind the objects until they walk past.

DO NOT engage the T-800s.

Head through the hospital halls until you reach the resistance soldiers. Then make your way through the halls and up the stairs, following the cables toward the Skynet computer terminal. You’ll need to stealthily sneak past the patrolling Terminators and avoid the turrets.

First hack the door to gain access to the area and then use the open air vent to sneak around behind the first Terminator. You can also hack the turret to help you out.

Use the goggles to see where the turrets and Terminators are and then make your way to the back of the room and follow the cable to the terminal.

Once you blow up the plasma supply make your way back through the area and exit through the door that leads out to the garage. There’s also a crate with some red plasma cells inside that you can hack just before you exit the room.

Use the destroyed vehicles to hide and avoid being spotted by the T-800 patrols.

Head through the fence and reach the checkpoint near the burned up parking lot and the Stranger will direct you to the exit.

When you get done talking to the NPCs, you can exit the hideout to start the next mission.

Into The Storm

Jennifer and Baron will get into a mini catfight, you can either side with Baron or Jennifer. If you side with Jennifer you will gain some hearts from her.

After the verbal skirmish, the Terminators will raid the area and you’ll get to use the plasma rifle finally.

The plasma rifles can actually kill the T-800s. Additionally, if you throw explosives keep in mind that the explosives and environmental damage will knock the T-800s over but it will not kill them. Keep shooting until the T-800s die for good.

This is a run-and-gun segment, so stay with Baron and the men and shoot anything that doesn’t have flesh on its bones.

This is a Call of Duty-style segment where you run through the station, up through the train yard, and toward the warehouse.

Terminator Resistance - Baron

Resistance Shelter

Follow Baron into the building where it will partially collapse on Rivers.

Kill the Terminators and head out of the building to complete the mission.

The game starts to devolve into typical “diversity” propaganda, where Baron is somehow the leader of the resistance movement, and the scientist who makes all the high-tech gear, Alvin, is black.

This is typical Liberal propaganda, where they constantly push the idea that blacks are all scientists and women are leaders.

Anyway, when you unlock the ability to upgrade weapons with Alvin, you’ll be able to install the chips you collected from the Terminators.

Chipsets must match in order to upgrade the plasma rifle.

Terminator Resistance - Upgrades

The gimmick is that the end of a chip has to match the beginning of the next chip in the set, as indicated in the image above.

As you begin to exit the shelter, one of the women will ask about what happened to her husband at the Metro Station – Baron will tell you not to tell, but if you do tell the woman what happened to her husband, it will raise your relationship with Jennifer.

Once you get done there you can exit the shelter and head back to the hideout.

You can talk to the NPCs again and pick up a side-quest from Erin.

If you ask about Erin’s husband you can also raise your standing with her.

If you complete the side-quest for Ryan to give him the toolbox, he’ll give you a one-time use termination knife when you talk to him.

Patrick will have a side-quest for you, too, to retrieve some chalk from his home.

Your main mission will be to recon the Skynet installations, but the side-quests areas are located in between each of your main objectives.

Remember that your ammo is limited so don’t waste all your bullets fighting every machine you encounter. While the resources are useful, keep in mind that ammo is limited, and this isn’t Call of Duty.

Conserve your bullets, count your shots, pick your targets, and engage with caution.

Follow the nav point past the roadway and Baron will add another mission to your pile, to scout a T-47 prototype walker unit.

You’ll encounter a T-808 flamethrower unit guarding the pathway that leads toward Colin’s stash. So take it out and then head through the narrow passage to reach the next area.
