Dash Dash World, VR Kart Racer Beta Sign-Ups Are Live

Starting December 22nd, 2019, the beta for the VR kart-racer from Motionx Studio called Dash Dash World will go live. You can currently sign-up for the beta right now using the Google Doc.

To announce the availability of beta registration, they rolled out a new gameplay trailer for the VR kart racer, featuring a look at the motion-operated combat and power-up system, as well as the real-time emotes, and some of the ways they’re attempting to cut down on motion sickness.

You can check out the minute long trailer below.

So there are a couple of things worth talking about here.

First up, the graphics are typical kart-racing fanfare. I do really like some of the stage designs based on what’s on display in the trailer. It reminds me of some of the stages from F1 Racing Stars, which had a pretty cool aesthetic, but the tracks themselves lacked any sort of skill-based requirements to come in first place.

This brings me to my next point. The trailer depicts Dash Dash World as being skill-based. You have to actually drift the turns, and cut the corners close, and over-take opponents by learning parts of the track. I really like that.

The best part about the trailer is that the power-ups are also skill based. You don’t just pop a bubble and watch your opponents get fried. You have to point and aim at your foes and take the shot when it’s convenient. This could prove to be rather risky in real-time gameplay, but I love having that option especially when you’re partnered up and racing as a team and you don’t want to hit your teammate with a special. The manual aiming allows you to pinpoint your foe and plop them with a shot when it best suits you.

And finally, I have to commend Motionx Studio for making the female characters look attractive. This is a huge factor in luring in gamers who want to play a game that’s visually enticing. The fact that the characters can be customized with more than 100 different outfits also adds to that flavor.

I’m not a big fan of VR, but I do think Dash Dash World has a few shining elements that stick out and make it seem like a worthwhile experience.
