There seems to be a bunch of projects in the works centered around Hasbro’s Masters of the Universe property. The latest one being the newly announced CGI series, which is scheduled to make its debut on Netflix.
Entertainment Weekly originally reported that the new Netflix series is being produced by House of Cool and CGCG, the latter of which worked on the Star Wars: Resistance series. Netflix is working on collaboration with Mattel on the project and it’s supposedly aimed for a young audience with a tie-in toy line planned to roll out to retailers alongside the launch of the new CGI series.
The description of the show notes that it will take place on the planet Eternia, and that it will follow a young prince with the ability to transform into He-Man using the powers of Grayskull in order to fight against the evil Skeletor.
A promotional poster was also rolled out, which you can check out below.
As reported by Science Fiction, this isn’t even the first reboot of the series in the works. Following up on the propaganda-laden She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, which is also airing on Netflix, there’s also another Masters of the Universe: Revelation that is currently in the works by director and writer Kevin Smith.
All of these are separate from Sony’s live-action remake of the Dolph Lundren movie, Masters of the Universe.
So what’s the big difference between Kevin Smith’s new series and the one that CGCG and House of Cool is working on? Well, apparently the CGCG one on Netflix will be aimed at kids and Kevin Smith’s iteration will be for an older crowd.
Given how much the propaganda was pushed in She-Ra and the Princesses of Power you can almost guarantee they will turn one or more of the characters gay, or introduce a prominent gay character onto the cast, since that happens with almost every single show out there, from Voltron to Young Justice League to Adventure Time to kids shows like Arthur on PBS.
Nothing is sacred. Nothing is safe. Stay alert.
