After rumors of Resident Evil 3 circulated the internet many were excited to see another team remake the classic. With an unnamed game yet to be announced for Jump Fest many eagrly were anticipating a Resident Evil 3 announcement to be coming shortly.
Shattering those hopes and dreams Twitter user Evil VR, who has a record of hit or miss leaks, has revealed there will be no announcement for a Resident Evil game for next year.
Yes, I’ve made mistakes, sources came from different people I’m in contact with, but trust me on this one, there will be no announcement on a new Resident Evil game. Maybe an update of #RE2Remake. I bring this recent news because I don’t want all of you to get your hopes high.

It is entirely possible hope for a surprise announcement will ultimately be crushed with the presentation of something entirely mundane. Regardless of whether a surprise announcement comes at Jump Festa what is known is there currently are no major announced titles from Capcom coming in 2020.
All releases are simply ports of previously released titles and a movie. Capcom being a corporation will not be able to disappoint investors by not having any major releases in 2020, so it is only a matter of when we will hear an announcement of a new title not if.
Leaks and rumors have given some hints as to what title might see an announcement. Topping the list is the long rumored Dead Rising 5. Many outlets have run headlines proclaiming the game as having perished with Capcom Vancouver. The chief source for this information was an article written by Screen Rant that cites a 4chan leak for proof the game was in production.
The problem with their reporting is that same leak they used to justify their claim the game was in development emphatically stated it was not in development by Capcom Vancouver. As the team had experienced burnout on developing the franchise and ultimately Capcom had lost faith in the team’s ongoing capacity to develop titles that would ultimately sell. Later we would learn that lack of faith in the studio was the driving cause of its closure adding more validity to said leak.
Two titles were known to be in development at CV at the time of their closure. The first was an action rpg called Knights of Aegis which had been confirmed in development alongside a second unannounced AAA title. Lost Planet 4 which had been leaked through a survey is likely the title that was in development at Vancouver.
A second contender for the announcement is the long rumored Dino Crisis Reboot. Not much has ever been detailed about the title other than it is in development or planning stages. Typically these rumors accompanied other leaks and rumors that later panned out as having validity.
Capcom for their part has stated they have a desire to resurrect dormant IPs. Beyond the two aforementioned titles this adds a laundry list of dormant IPs that could see the light of day again. Leaving it anyone’s guess what big announcements await us for 2020.
