Sony Reveals PS5 Logo And PSVR Sales Numbers At CES 2020

When Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan took the stage to cover the console’s main features and “selling points,” we learn that the PS5 did not show up at CES 2020. However, Sony did use its time to show gamers and fans the next-gen console’s logo and the sales numbers behind the PSVR.

I’m not sure why Sony thought to use CES 2020 as a space to reveal the PS5’s logo, but I digress. Anyway, folks at the event wouldn’t get to see the next-gen console but instead some of the PS5’s specs and PSVR’s sales numbers.

With all of that said, over on sony.co.uk, Sony posted up slides detailing what the PS5 is capable of bringing to the table next-gen, which consists of the following information on the below still:

If you can’t see the above image, Sony claims that the PS5 will have 3D audio sound, haptics/adaptive triggers, an ultra-high-speed SSD, hardware-based Ray-Tracing, and “Ultra HD Blu-ray.”

Ryan goes on to explain that Sony will offer the biggest and best in content and will deliver unique experiences to gamers with “unprecedented speed” through the PS5. This also covers new features and games to hit the next-gen console in the months ahead.

Furthermore, website uploadvr.com notes that this is the first update Sony has offered on the PSVR sales in a long time. Last year during March, Sony said the PSVR had reached 4.2 million units sold.

According to Ryan’s comments, the website estimates that the head-set has accrued around 0.8 million units in the past eight months. This brings us to the numbers below on the slide:

So there you have it. Sony used CES 2020 to reveal the PS5 logo, re-iterate some of the things that the device can do, and offered a look at the PSVR ‘s sales.

Again, you can watch the whole Sony show by paying sony.co.uk a visit.
