More Darq DLC And New Announcements Coming Later This Year

Darq developer, Unfold Games, announced last year in 2019 that he’s looking to bring gamers free DLC in the future. Well, it looks like more DLC might be in the works for 2020, as well as new announcements.

After the developer behind Darq explained his reasoning on why he went with Steam and GOG and not the Epic Games Store, it seems as if the typical social injustice keyboard warriors had their jimmies rustled, such as the U.S. NPD analyst Matt Piscatella:

I think publicly being a martyr about it (and appealing to gamers who hate the Epic Store) is a major part of the business decision

— Jason Schreier (@jasonschreier) August 18, 2019

Jason Schreier couldn’t let Piscatella have all the fun and had to chime in to show how much of a “good guy” he is by saying the following about Unfold Games and Darq:

It’s one of the worst things to ever happen to video game Discourse that’s for sure

Despite the negative talk from Piscatella and Schreier, the dev behind Darq has accrued quite the praise with the puzzler scoring a Steam rating of 9.3/10 and 4.5 stars out of 5 on GOG.

With more and more gamers and fans behind Unfold Games, the upcoming DLC (like The Tower) will come out for free. And now that more DLC is in the works, it means that gamers will likely see the lifespan of Darq reach new heights this year:

Happy New Year everybody! More DARQness (DLC’s) is coming in 2020, as well as new exciting announcements. Thank you for making 2019 the most fulfilling year of my life ♥️

— Unfold Games (@UnfoldGames) January 1, 2020

I should point out that The Tower and another downloadable expansion seem to be the only two DLCs, but 2020 isn’t a year of DLCs for Darq but ports, too:

I’ve got one more DLC planned (also free), after that I’m not sure if there will be more. I promised a lot of people to bring the game to consoles, so hoping to focus on that in the near future.

So what can we take away from all of this? Well, the lone dev that opted to be consumer-friendly not only made back the money spent on Darq but then some to make free future DLC. Additionally, console ports (likely for PS4, Xbox One, and Switch) and new announcements are underway as of this moment.

You can pick up Darq right now across PC via Steam or GOG.
