Valve Hasn’t Released A Single Artifact Gameplay Update For 1 Full Year

Gaben and Valve could care less about Artifact, as evident by the stillborn game’s player count. With that said, I bet Stevie Wonder could see Artifact’s tragic fate a mile away when it was announced, but I digress. As of today, it marks one full year of Artifact going without a single gameplay update, painting a grimmer future for the digital collectible card game.

Some people say that a fate worse than death is one that becomes a day of reckoning that one will not live long enough to never forget. Whether or not that’s the case with Valve and Artifact, the digital card game’s servers are still up, but it’s pretty much dead when it comes to active players.

We know this because of publication site gaminglyf.com noting on January 15th, 2019, that the number of players lost tallies up to around 97%, which is said to be a “staggering decline particularly for a game created by one of video game’s most revered developers.”

This now brings us to Reddit user lkasdf9087’s post.

Titled “Artifact has now gone 1 year with no updates,” the user notes that if Artifact was a German citizen, it would be declared dead — since info on it hasn’t popped up in a year. Additionally, he also linked to the last gameplay update that dropped a year ago.

Despite the moderators doing what every SJW does and that is deleting and silencing those that dare go against the grain, Reddit user lkasdf9087 now-deleted post made it off of r/Artifact and on to r/Games accruing over 3.2k upvotes — a subreddit that sees quite a bit of big devs visiting.

I do wonder if the so-called planned revival for Artifact — that sees Valve and crew putting their heads down to focus on fixing issues plaguing Artifact — will be enough to bring it back from the dead?

While we wait to find out, here’s the first hint that outlined this game’s very demise, which happened back during the early part of August 2017:
