A bunch of companies got woke and went broke this week. From Hallmark having to layoff hundreds of staff around the world, to Collider having to lay off staff, to College Humor downsizing to the point where over a hundred of their team are now gone.
In addition to that, there has been another lawsuit against the agencies representing alleged Hollywood pedo rings propped up by Disney workers. And Sony has decided to move their business to Europe, which includes a new set of thought leaders running the business. These stories and more in this January 11th, 2020 edition of the Weekly Recap.

And Crytek went and screwed the pooch for itself by requesting to waylay their lawsuit against CIG until Squadron 42 releases.
PlatinumGames Sells Out To Tencent
CNN decided they didn’t stand a chance in the courtroom against Covington Catholic High’s Nick Sandmann in the courtroom like the Devil’s testicular hair doesn’t stand a chance of not freezing over in the Arctic, so they cut their losses and settled out of court. Sony revealed the official PS5 logo. It’s just like all the other PlayStation logos, so there’s nothing really else to say. Even though fans have been waiting ages for Utawarerumono to launch on Steam, it turns out that the version that is being released on Steam is censored. Saved By The Bell is getting a sequel, but the new main star will be a transgender actor who cut off their peewee pisser in order to pretend to be a girl. And one of the bigger stories of the week is that famed Japanese development studio, PlatinumGames, has announced that they’ve sold out and taken money from Tencent to produce some unannounced upcoming titles. What are these titles? We don’t know, but it doesn’t sound good.
Get Woke, Go Broke
It’s a repeated saying during this phase of the Culture War: “Get Woke, Go Broke”. If you’re a corporation trying to pilfer pennies from the pockets of plebeians, getting woke is not the way to do it, and companies are still learning the hard lessons of that simple maxim to this very day. Two good examples of that is Hallmark, who after kowtowing to the Cornhole Commissars, ended up having to lay off 400 of their employees. College Humor was also in the same boat, as their former owner bailed on them and they, too, had to lay off their entire staff after getting woke and going broke. New info has revealed that Capcom will be making more changes to Resident Evil 3 Remake than the changes they made to Resident Evil 2 Remake, and this probably doesn’t bode well given how awful the changes have been so far. A former voice actor for GTA: San Andreas has noted that Rockstar doesn’t pay very well, and he opted to run them into the ground in an Instagram tirade. And Britain has reached peak insanity, as the ASA deemed an ad by PC Specialist to be “harmful” because it included three men and no women as the company was advertising computer hardware to majority of their male market, so the ASA had the ad banned.
Sony Moves To Europe
The PlayStation brand is now being relocated to Europe, with Britain’s own Veronica Rogers being appointed as the head of global operations and Hermen Hulst being put in charge of worldwide studios. A new update has rolled out for Timesplitters Rewind giving gamers an update on when they can expect a release for the fan-made shooter. A new initiative from the PRC called Healthy China 2030 is set to curb violent and sexual material in games, and most people fear that some of their favorite games will be negatively impacted by this new measure. We have up a review of Valfaris for the Nintendo Switch, and a former journalist for Pure Nintendo Magazine has joined the Japanese animation industry as an animator, which has some anime fans quite leery about Westerners working on Japanese productions.
Cut Content From Pokemon Sword & Shield Return As DLC
Anyone who knows how the AAA business works these days knows that every major company out there rolls out a “finished” product with ‘X’ amount of content, with the rest of it sliced off and ready to roll out via post-launch DLC patches. Well, Nintendo and the Pokemon Company decided to join in on the digs by announcing post-launch DLC for Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield, essentially confirming what everyone expected them to do after they cut hundreds of Pokemon from the launch-day line-up. Xbox Series X exclusives may not arrive as quickly as you might hope. According to some of the people working on the new console, don’t expect any exclusives to arrive until a year or two after the console’s release. And YouTuber MxR has run into some trouble with a Chinese extortion agency who wants them to pay up $6,000 in order to keep their channel from being hit with enough copyright strikes to tank it for good.
