Instead of turning in his grave, I’m sure Stallone is squirming in his jacuzzi knowing that one of his biggest blockbusters from the 1990s is being rebooted as feminist propaganda. That’s right, Cliffhanger was already shopped around at Cannes Marché last year, but a lot of people probably missed the news because most people probably don’t care about the news shared on Left-wing propaganda blogs.
Bounding Into Comics resurfaced the news recently, which also made its way onto KotakuInActio n 2, where normal moviegoers and cinephiles could get properly outraged about the castration of one of Sylvester Stallone’s greatest hits.
We still don’t have any news about who the lead actress will be for the Cliffhanger remake, but it will be directed by Iranian-American director Ana Lily Amirpour who made the awful movie The Bad Batch, which was derided both by critics and fans alike, a rare feat in today’s politically antipodes atmosphere.
The news was also picked up by YouTube outlet Geeks + Games.
The thing is, this news is old… like really old.
Originally Deadline broke the story back in May of 2019. They had revealed that Amirpour was in charge of directing the flick and that a female lead actress had yet to be cast for the role, but that Jason Momoa would have a small cameo in the film since he starred in Amirpour’s The Bad Batch.
If I had to guess they will probably have Momoa in a gender-swapped role of Sarah, who was played by Michelle Joyner. For those of you who forgot who Sarah was in the film, there’s a clip of her sequence below.
Stallone originally responded to Deadline’s news with a post on his Instagram page, where he simply stated…
“I hear they’re remaking “cliffhanger“this time it will be a different interpretation which I think will be great. Good luck!… Hang in there”
It seems fairly disrespectful to take a property made famous by a living legend and then exclude him from that property.
But then again, this new Cliffhanger will be woke, so it doesn’t matter. The film will join other woke reboots such as Charlie’s Angels and Ghostbusters 2016 on the Get Woke, Go Broke Master List… if it ever gets made.
