DOOM Eternal Customization Trailer Promotes Retro Skins And Furry-Bait

Bethesda and id Software released a new trailer for the highly anticipated DOOM: Eternal, which is set to release on March 20th. The trailer highlights the ability to customize the Slayer, and instead of focusing on some heavy metal-inspired themes from Iron Maiden, Nine Inch Nails, Metallica, Obituary, Anathema, or Slipknot, they decided to try to lure in the Fortnite and My Little Pony crowd.

The trailer is titled “Personalive Your DOOM Slayer” and it’s only 41 seconds long. It briefly scrolls through a few different alternative costumes that you can outfit the Slayer with, including the classic green marine armor from the original DOOM (it looks pretty cool all decked out in HD, by the way), along with a few other variations, including a damaged Slayer, and of course… the MY Little Pony inspired getup with a hot-pink mane and matching wings.

You can check out the trailer below.

The MLP atrocity is par tof a collaboration with Twitch Prime, which says a lot about the people who use Twitch.

The whole outfit is a complete joke, though.

The Slayer has a ridiculous unicorn head on top of his helmet. The middle part of the armor features the hot pink splash, with equally ridiculous pink boots, and a magical wand attached to a rainbow-colored metal sleeve that replaces his iconic wrist blade.

I have no idea who is going to look at that and go “Yeah, that’s what I want to play!”

It almost seems like the marketing team for the game are tripping over themselves to misrepresent DOOM: Eternal during the final stretch of the game’s promotion.

Previous to this furry-baiting trailer, Bethesda made a completely ridiculous trailer featuring DOOM: Eternal and some mumbling nonsense called rap.

Real fans were obviously not pleased, and it showed in the downvotes.

If I didn’t know any better one might think Bethesda’s marketing department was purposely trying to sabotage the only masculine and worthwhile game that the company has made since 2016.

Undermining the appeal of the game to straight white males is something that a typical Lefty would do.

Hopefully, the actual game is as based as all the previous gameplay trailers made it seem. But given today’s media industry and its tendency to add subversive propaganda to nearly every major franchise and entertainment property, I wouldn’t hold my breath on DOOM: Eternal escaping said subversion. I guess we’ll find out when it launches March 20th.
