Dread Nautical, Cruise Ship Horror Game Targets April 29th Release On PS4, Xbox, Switch

Zen Studios announced that they have a new game set to arrive on April 29th for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One called Dread Nautical. It’s a tactical turn-based horror game set on a cruise ship where a portal from another world sends extra dimensional abominations onto the nautical getaway out in the middle of the ocean.

Trapped by a surrounding swirl of blue waves and a thunderous downpour, and left with nothing but their wits and the devices available to them on the cruise ship, the handful of survivors must navigate the vessel and escape alive.

You’ll need to collect resources such as food and medical supplies, and attempt to battle your way out off the boat. You can see what the gameplay is like with the trailer below.

The most obvious thing about the trailer is the “diverse” cast.

It strips away from what otherwise could have been an interesting concept.

Anytime you’re seeing checkboxes being ticked as the footage rolls, you know that the developers were putting their priorities in the wrong area during the conceptual design phase. Unique or interesting characters have all be laid to rest during this generation of gaming, and we now have to be overwhelmed with characters from the faux-diverse backgrounds of spectrums and cultures that are little more than superficial at best.

Don’t be surprised if the lounge singer or the Asian chick happens to be a lesbian, which seems to be the rage all these days.

There’s at least a samurai and a hard-boiled detective on the team, but once you see the cast you can’t unsee them.

Anyway, the cartoon-themed, turn-based horror game will arrive on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One April 29th. PC gamers will be stuck with a year of exclusivity on the Epic Games Store, so that’s likely going to drive interest down even further.
