Back in August of 2019, Lust For Darkness hit a hiccup when it was supposed to release on the Nintendo Switch but couldn’t escape the Adults Only rating by the ESRB. And since retail shops refuse to carry AO-rated games, Lust For Darkness found itself without a home on Nintendo’s console until some changes could be made. Well, Movie Games Lunarium and SimFabric announced that they have made the necessary changes and Lust For Darkness will arrive on the Nintendo Switch later in the week.
Yes, basically they had to censor the game to receive a lower ESRB rating for release on the Switch.
The Polish developers at Movie Games Lunarium worked with the porting house, SimbFabric, to alter the content and secure an ‘M’ rating from the ESRB and a March 20th release date.
The game will be available for $15.99 on the Nintendo eShop.
According to the press release, they explained…
“After tweaking a controversial content and reworking the most contentious assets, SimFabric is happy to announce Lust for Darkness: Dawn Edition. A special version of the game adapted to the American rating policy. Lust for Darkness is still naughty and full of erotic tension – the game hasn’t lost its DNA. It has been just reworked here and there, according to ESRB recommendations and will return to distribution in the United States, Canada, and Mexico next week.”
Now the good part is that the game in Europe and Australia has been unaffected.
I know, it’s bizarre but Australians will get a more unaltered experience than Americans.
Ridiculous.
The game managed to make waves with its heavy story inspiration from H.P. Lovecraft and visual imagery from Zdzisław Beksiński.
You can look to purchase the American version of the game from Nintendo of America eShop.
Or you can get your hands on the uncensored version of the game from the Nintendo of Europe eShop.
