MangaStream Makes A Triumphant Return

Back in December of 2019 MangaStream and Jaimini’s Box were shut down to avoid legal hammers from rights holders. Miraculously, MangaStream seems to have made a return to form, posting all new translations and frequent updates.

If you check the official MangaStream website, there are all new uploads on the front page, from webtoons and indie doujins to popular manga such as Beastars and One Punch Man.

According to the MangaStream Twitter account, it appears to have been reactivated back in January of 2020. It only has less than two dozen followers, so it’s showing signs of its freshness.

The interesting thing here is that there was no official announcement from the site. They just began posting content on January 2nd, 2020 and have infrequently been doing so since.

Their last tweet was on February 27th, as of the writing of this article, but there’s no explanation on if the situation changed regarding the scanlantions, especially since some of the brand name mangas that landed them in hot pot are still available on the site, such as My Hero Academia and One Piece.

It’s possible that the return of the site was purposely kept low key to avoid any suspicions or drama from the same copyright groups that targeted the websites back in December.

On the upside, at least MangaStream is back and providing scanlations just like before.

Interestingly enough SGSAMI, one of the YouTubers that covered the closure of the sites, had his YouTube account terminated due to multiple copyright claims from third-party license holders. So it’s likely that the same people that had the other sites shut down also went after the YouTuber.

Other manga and doujin sites were also targeted throughout the summer of 2019, including but not limited to Manga Rock, Rule34, Gelbooru, and even E-Hentai.
