Netflix’s The Platform is a new sci-fi horror film set in a dystopian environment where people are located on a vertical platform that descends to great depths. At the very top is the decadent elite while at the very bottom are people desperate to survive by any means necessary.
The trailer for the film depicts a world where whatever scraps you’re given you take, and whatever you leave behind is given to those less fortunate to you on the lower end of the platform.
The trailer sort of does and doesn’t give away what appears to happen in the film, but right away anyone who has seen the Canadian sci-fi horror trilogy known as Cube will see the similarities right away.

The gist is that a man wakes up in a room situated on a vertical platform. There are rooms above them and rooms below them, with a rectangular hole in the floor that both ascends and descends.
The gimmick of the movie is that the main character feels that those on the lower platforms could use help, and so he goes through the risky venture of attempting to be altruistic instead of relying on letting nature take its course.
The “Trickle Down” economics metaphor is literally showcased in the trailer via the lift in the center in the room that gives the lesser people whatever is left over from what the top doesn’t want.
I’m sure there are going to be some Reagan fanboys absolutely incensed at the criticism of such a structure, but the social commentary echoes loudly through the setup of the film itself.
I have to admit that the premise is intriguing and I’m actually interested in checking the film out. It’s hard to tell if it’s as mean spirited as Cube, but it certainly looks similar with its brutalist architecture and cold, uncompromising theme.
Of course, it should go without saying that Netflix is filled to the brim with Left-wing agitprop. They throw the gay agenda around like Floyd Mayweather throws around his girlfriends, and they’re constantly pushing degeneracy at each and every turn.
The Platform is currently available right now.
