During the Day 1 Game Stack Live sessions that Microsoft’s Xbox division rolled out for the Game Developers Conference – or rather, what’s left of the streaming version of the event after the coronavirus sidelined the actual conference – they included panels talking about inclusivity and accessibility.
The panels about inclusivity and changing the game industry are featured over on the Microsoft developer portal. There’s also a four hour video uploaded on YouTube that features the panels.
Out of the four hour session, about 45 minutes in they start with a featurette from The Coalition talking about how they put accessibility first for Gears 5. It didn’t do diddly squat to help bolster the game’s sales (which have been hidden from the public after Microsoft initially boasted about the player-count (not the sales count) during the game’s launch week), but sometimes sales and profits are put in the backseat when social engineering rests at the forefront of a company’s endeavors.
Take note that there are no straight white males hosting the event, instead they have two black males and a white female.
This is more typical Leftist propaganda doled out by the corporate overlords of our society, continually and perpetually instilling this notion of the white male erasure, whether it be in entertainment media or corporate speaking events.
In any case, they then discuss about how developers need to make efforts to be inclusive, otherwise they’ll be exclusive. In many ways the latter is better because it weeds out the posers, the grifters, and the infiltrators.
Right now, geekdom is suffering from a deluge of unwanted software immigrants taking up the player-space that should have been designated for real gamers, but instead is being made to accommodate people who drink soy lattes and pumpkin spice coffee.
Real gamers don’t drink soy.
At the 1:06:16 mark they talk about Microsoft’s next steps in enforcing their accessibility guidelines in development, spread across their studios.
At the 1:57:46 mark they have a panel about about “Inclusivity In Game Design”, which is a phrase that induces nothing but groans from real gamers. It includes members working on projects such as Forza Motorsport, Falling Squirrel and Dontnod’s transgender-themed game Tell Me Why.
Usually when the word “inclusivity” is thrown around it means the exclusion of straight white male characters or heroes. It also typically means a constant bombardment of pink-haired, lesbian, black Muslims who identity as “non-binary” (a gender state that does not exist), and repeated bashings over the head about how terrible heterosexuals are, how terrible straight white males are, and how awesome it is to be part of a minuscule demographic on the LGBTQIA+ spectrum that barely makes up a percentage of the population.
In fact, I’m shocked furries haven’t been more vocal about being included in games given that there’s about as many them around as there are members of the Rainbow Reich, according to a study conducted by Furscience.
In any case, it should be made readily clear by now that Microsoft is converged.
All they talk about is inclusivity, LGBTQIA+ propaganda, accessibility, and diversity. We know next to nothing about what makes their slate of Xbox Series X games truly “next-gen”, and they’ve done absolutely nothing to improve or evolve game design from a practical standpoint that elevates the experience above what we’ve already played for the last several decades.
In fact, many of the Xbox exclusives seem to be regressing as far as features and gameplay depth are concerned.
Anyway, in combination with their gender-neutral controller and their constant focus on diversity, I have no idea why people would be excited for their upcoming slate of games.
