Next Battlefield To Release In 2021, As Per Report

Work on the next-gen Battlefield game is already taking shape. We’ve reported before that EA and DICE are looking for senior devs to work on the “Battlefield franchise,” and now a new report relays information that an EA spokesperson says the year 2021 is the next Battlefield‘s release window.

In case you don’t know, EA and DICE noted that sometime in Fiscal Year 2022 — which starts in April 2021 and ends in March 2022 — the next Battlefield experience will drop for public consumption. There’s a lot of room between said time frame, but it looks like the next-gen game’s window has narrowed down drastically according to a new report.

Publication site videogameschronicle.com received direct word from an EA spokesperson regarding Battlefield V, Star Wars: Battlefront 2, and the next Battlefield title, which you can read right here:

“The team at DICE is working on the standalone Battlefield V update releasing this summer, and continuing their work on delivering Community Games

While the studio’s vision for Star Wars Battlefront II is now complete with this week’s The Battle on Scarif Update, the servers, in-game challenges, recurring events and game support will continue as the game lives on with players and the community. We’re looking forward to hearing players’ stories for both games, for years to come.

Longer term, the studio is focused on the future of Battlefield that we’ll be bringing to players in 2021.”

Right now, over on ea.gr8people.com, DICE is looking for yet another senior developer, and this time the team wants a senior brand manager for the next Battlefield. Posted on April 22nd, 2020, the job listing in question calls for the following:

  • Analyze data, including sales and in-game data, to identify opportunities and challenges, then create strategies and tactics to drive results.
  • Work with studio to ensure that the brand tone and personality is consistent between campaign and in-game.
  • Look for synergies and innovation in marketing which transcends the campaign and game.

It’s unclear what kind of impact the coronavirus will have on the next-gen Battlefield experience and if it will be able to ship in 2021 for PS5 and Xbox Series X. However, time will tell what EA and DICE will do.

As of right now, Battlefield V is out for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
