Azur Lane: Crosswave Heads To Nintendo Switch In September

Idea Factory, Felistella and Compile Heart recently announced that Azur Lane: Cross Wave will be making its way to the Nintendo Switch. The game will be launching in Japan on September 17th, 2020 for Nintendo’s little hybrid that could, complete with special pre-order bonuses.

The Switch version of the game is about a year late compared to the release on the PlayStation 4, which originally came out back in August of 2019. Half a year later the game released on Steam for PC, where it’s currently available on the store page for $49.99.

The PC version currently lacks some of the DLC that’s already available on PS4, and some of the content coming to the Switch version, such as the pre-order bonus.

You can get a glimpse of what the gameplay is like with the trailer below.

Interestingly enough the trailer supports full 1080p, which typically means that’s the resolution that the game supports when played natively on the Switch in docked mode, assuming that the footage wasn’t captured on PC or PS4.

The actual gameplay is comprised of fast-paced action scenarios set out at sea where you’re basically engaged in bullet-hell scenarios with intense third-person shooting mechanics at play.

In addition to blasting down baddies in the campaign mode, there’s also the photo mode that’s present on the other platforms, so you can take some cool upskirt shots of the girls and share them with your friends on social media.

I’m kind of shocked that the game wasn’t released first on Nintendo Switch and then PS4, especially given that Sony has the censorship policies in place and that seems like it would have deterred Compile Heart from targeting the PS4 first, but I guess for the Switch it’s better late than never.

Given that the game will arrive in Japan this September, expect a Western release to arrive some time shortly after that for the Nintendo Switch.
