Monstrum, Survival-Horror Game Set On A Cargo Ship Launches On PS4, Xbox One, Switch

Team Junkish announced that Monstrum is currently available for the Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. The indie monster game originally came out back in 2015, but half a decade later the game is now available for home consoles.

The physical release of the game on home consoles from publisher Soedesco was originally supposed to make its way to retailers in May, but due to the coronavirus the physical release was delayed.

The physical version is still coming, only at a later date.

The horror game sees players on an old 1970s cargo ship, abandoned but not empty.

As you attempt to find a way off the ship by scavenging for parts to repair certain escape vehicles, there are monsters lurking about.

The hook for Team Junkish’s title is that each playthrough is randomized, and where you find certain parts, how you solve certain puzzles, or where the monsters are located will change each time you play.

While there are no weapons to battle each of the monsters, you can use various distractions and traps to divert the monsters’ attention away from you while you search out items and find a way to escape.

Monstrum had a low key release on PC but was somewhat of a sleeper hit due to the survival-horror elements and the unique location of being on a cargo ship, which is the perfect place to fill gamers with terror, while also giving them a different kind of situation to survive through compared to other games.

I still would have preferred having some kind of weapon to fight back against the monsters, but at least you can do more than just hide.

If you missed out on the game on PC, you can grab a digital copy of Monstrum right now for PS4, Xbox One, or on the eShop for the Nintendo Switch.
