13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim Rated ‘M’ By Australian Classification Board

Vanillaware’s 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim for the PS4 originally came out in Japan back in 2019, and eventually was scheduled to release in the rest of the world in 2020, save for the fact that the Australian release was devoid of a rating for the longest… until now.

According to Twinfinite, the Atlus-published title is set to release in Australia after finally receiving a rating from the Australian Classification Board.

It’s interesting that the only thing the game is rated for is ‘M’ for “Moderate Impact” related to “Themes” and “Violence”, as indicated on the official Classification.gov website.

I would have expected a slightly higher rating given that when the characters load up in the mech you get to see them in their birthday suits – obscured, obviously. But we all know how prudish the Australian Classification Board can be when it comes to any form of nudity. Then again, at least they aren’t as bad as Valve, where visual novels simply featuring characters in school outfits are subject for summary ban.

According to Twinfinite, the game will be part of the IGN Summer of Gaming event set to take place on June 12th.

If the Australian Classification Board has already rated 13 Sentinels, then it means an ESRB rating won’t be far behind, and that means that it’s likely going to release sometime soon in the West.

For those of you curious about 13 Sentinels, it’s a hybrid adventure game fused with a tactical mech strategy sim, so that you play as the main mech pilots by walking around town, interacting with other NPCs and uncovering each of the characters’ motivations, personalities, and quests, while in the tactical strategy mode you command the mech from an isometric perspective.

Hopefully we’ll learn more about 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim‘s Western release on June 12th.
