Three additional intellectual properties have been recently acquired by Ziggurat Interactive, including the sexually-seductive action series BloodRayne, the 3D platformer Flip’s Twisted World, and the third-person action game Raze’s Hell.
GameInformer picked up the news after Ziggurat announced that the three IPs from Majesco Entertainment were joining their ever-growing library of games, which now extends beyond 200 titles.
In the article they explain that BloodRayne in particular, starring the delectably dangerous Dhampir, will be getting special treatment as Ziggurat has teamed up with Terminal Reality, the original studio that developed the sixth gen games, and will update the game’s compatibility and performance for PC.
At present, the original 2003 release of BloodRayne and 2005 release of BloodRayne 2 are already available on Steam, but the article indicates that Ziggurat plans on updating both games with better performance and compatibility, which is something that gamers have been complaining about both on the BloodRayne Steam page and BloodRayne 2 Steam page.
The games either don’t work right, crashes, runs too fast, loses audio, or have graphical glitches and problems on newer machines, and that’s not getting into the Windows 10 issues.
As mentioned in the GameInformer article, they aren’t just taking over the IPs, they’re also going to improve upon them and this could include brand new games in the series, with the article reporting…
“Ziggurat Interactive is working with the original developer, Terminal Reality, to update the PC versions of the games to improve compatibility and enhance the experience. The publisher is also looking into ways to, ‘further explore and expand BloodRayne’s already rich universe.’”
I’ve got to be completely honest, I don’t have much hope for BloodRayne.
The game is pulp-infused entertainment, full of blood, jiggly boobs, hot chicks and monsters.
So far Ziggurat hasn’t made any moves that make me doubt their good intentions, but in [current year] everything is either pozzed, gimped, or censored.
Can we really trust that BloodRayne would get a sequential entry (or a remake) done right?
I can already see the writers turning her into a man-hating lesbian or toning down her outfit to be more “realistic”.
However, I really hope I’m wrong. I hope that Ziggurat proves me wrong by keeping the series campy and bringing back fun gameplay if they do decide to make a proper sequel or reboot; and we all know how fun isn’t a word that AAA developers use to make games these days.
