Fakku Lists Books That Have Been Banned From Amazon

Various manga and light novel series have recently been pulled from Amazon in certain regions. No proper reason has been given, but more books have been banned from Amazon and Fakku listed all of the titles that were removed from the online mega-store.

On July 18th, 2020 Fakku posted a lengthy thread of all the hentai and adult erotica banned from Amazon.

Like @yenpress @DarkHorseComics and @jnovelclub we’ve had manga removed from Amazon without notice. Although our titles are more adult than our peers, we think this is wrong.

Here’s a thread of our banned books and where you can find them. Thank you @rightstufanime @jlist 🙏 pic.twitter.com/LGNZZUGVd8

As is usual when censorship news crops up, Centrists™ were quick to justify the bans, claiming that it’s understandable for Amazon to ban hentai or smut.

However, what these same Centrists™ failed to understand is that Amazon sells adult toys, videos, hentai, and smut.

The typical response from most Centrists™ is to move the goal post, likely claiming “Since Amazon sells porn then it’s not a problem. Just buy it from somewhere else!”.

This completely sidesteps the issue that’s currently plaguing all of media at the moment: increasing amounts of censorship.

While Amazon may still sell porn, hentai, and sex toys , they’re slowly starting to target select titles, removing them from their digital store shelves.

This will turn into escalation, just like how Valve still allows R18+ titles on Steam but have been increasingly banning more and more titles while tightening the noose around the creative freedoms developers are allowed to explore.

Clownfish TV did a video talking about that very topic, as the Japanese believe that this will at the very least create a chilling effect on creativity, if not lead to outright mass censorship.

Now that Amazon has been targeting light novels and mangas, expect more bans to come down the pipeline, especially as other bookstores jump in on the censorship.

History tells us that once the censorship starts it rarely ever stops until there’s a toppling of the regime.

(Thanks for the news tip ClownfishTV)
