It’s difficult to get a feel for what the game will be. There are elements in the leather hat, chain mail garb, and metallic weapons that suggest it will be a sequel to Greedfall. Yet then there are the obvious advanced composite materials comprising the central armor, that suggest a science fiction theme.

The trouble with becoming excited about a new game from Spiders is what transpired with Technomancer.

Were one to only play the first chapter of Technomancer, they would have the impression that the game is one of the best explorations of the Security Vs Freedom philosophical debate. After chapter one, all the nuance and subtletes carefully established by the prologue and the first chapter of the game are removed. In their place are poorly constructed, thinly veiled pro-illegal immigration and black lives matter political themes. By the third chapter, your character is spouting SJW collectivist talking points, blaming everyone for how mutants are treated despite knowing they come from a totalitarian state that makes you disappear if you so much as question their authority.

Given only 27.9% of people have according to Steam’s achievements, completed the first chapter it is understandable the degradation is not well advertised. Greedfall, as far as I’ve been able to play it, was a proper return to form for the company. Albeit on that came after a round of layoffs and initial presentation of it being another politically driven experience.

For this reason alone it is difficult to become hyped for a new game. Spiders have already demonstrated when given the opportunity they are more than willing to throw out solid narrative design to push political agendas. Perhaps that concluded with the layoffs, but once bitten, twice shy.
