Rumors have been circulating around that Microsoft and the Xbox Team will release multiple next-gen Xbox consoles to help bolster the Xbox All Access subscription plan. In other words, the Xbox Series X might be joined by a cost-efficient alternative dubbed “Xbox Series S.”
Publication site videogameschronicle.com reported on a rumor back on April 22nd, 2020, that another Xbox console might pop up soon.
With that said, the publication site notes that the Xbox Series S (codenamed Lockhart) is designed to appeal to “cost-conscious players” and will target “four teraflops of computing power,” lower than the Xbox Series X’s 12 teraflops.
The website also reports that although the Xbox Series S is less powerful than the Xbox Series X, the former console will offer aspects of “the next-gen experience,” unlike the Xbox One, Xbox One S, and Xbox One X.
The report also highlights how game developers are expected to support both the Xbox Series X and the new cost-efficient console. And speaking of support, the website also notes that the Xbox Team is “testing Xbox Series S in their homes.”
Around that same time, website screenrant.com and Niko Partner’s analyst and social justice warrior Daniel Ahmad said that Microsoft and the Xbox Team made plans to reveal “new consoles and games” soon due to the cancelation of E3 2020.
Backing up the above rumors and speculations is a slew of images that you can look over right here courtesy of a new report by videogameschronicle.com:

Back on March 18th, 2020, news.xbox.com released an article on why the new Xbox controllers look different and aren’t exactly the same as the Xbox One controllers. Here’s Ryan Whitaker, Xbox Senior Designer, explanation regarding the next-gen controller’s design change:
“Being more inclusive is part of the design process from the very beginning. That’s true for everything we make at Xbox. Whether we’re redesigning our standard controller or inventing a completely new one, like the Adaptive Controller, we ask ourselves and gamers, “How can we make gaming a better experience for everyone?” By listening to gamers and observing how people of all backgrounds and abilities play, we continue to learn more and find areas we can improve. One key area we’re improving is fitting a wider range of hand sizes, especially smaller hands. By accommodating hands similar to those of an average 8-year-old, we found we could improve accessibility and comfort for hundreds of millions more people without negatively affecting the experience for those with larger hands. We did that by rounding the bumpers, slightly reducing and rounding parts around the triggers, and carefully sculpting the grips.”
Right now, the Xbox Series S has no release date due to the fact that it hasn’t been revealed yet. However, the Xbox Series X will release this holiday season.
