Sony Desperately Tries To Win Brownie Points With Knack, Rime For PS Plus February, 2018 Offerings

Instead of the usual indie-fanfare that the PlayStation 4 has been flooded with over the last several years in the PS Plus line-up, Sony decided to try offering higher quality games in the form of the PS4 launch title Knack and the 3D platformer from Tequila Works, Rime, as the free games for February’s PS Plus line-up.

The company has been bleeding support from the diehard audience thanks to a really poor slate of games given out to PlayStation Plus subscribers each month. More times than not the games are so bad that even the most hardcore of hardcore fanboys downvote the post and give it a low rating. This time around Sony seems to have hit some moderate modicum of success by edging out a 3.61 out of 5 stars for this month’s free games for PS4, PS3, and PS Vita.

The offerings were detailed over on the PlayStation Blog by James Hallahan, who reminded PlayStation VR owners that they’re also still giving away StarBlood Arena up through March 6th next month.

Knack (the first one, not the middling but slightly superior sequel) and Rime are likely to get a mild reaction from PS4 owners. Sony is hoping to elicit a few more reactions from PS3 and PS Vita owners with ZSpelunker HD, Mugen Souls Z, Exiles End and Grand Kingdom.

The comment section for this particular swath of games seem to be rather accepting of having Knack given out to them for free for the month of February.

On the other end of the spectrum Xbox One owners got it off way better. Shadow Warrior and Split/Second are the free Games With Gold for February, proving that even when Microsoft is having an a-okay but not great month they’re still a step out in front of Sony when it comes to the subscription-based content.
