UIG Entertainment announced that The Nightfall, the indie horror game from Pingle Studio, has officially launched for the Nintendo Switch and PS4. The game is available as a digital download for both Sony and Nintendo’s home consoles.
The game originally came out back in early 2018 for VR headsets, including Microsoft’s Mixed Reality HMDs, the Valve Index, the Vive, and the Rift. The game received middling scores from users but was ultimately just another game in a long line of software titles most people ignore for VR devices. Instead of trying to force people to pay for VR headsets, UIG Entertainment wisely decided to reach a wider audience by bringing The Nightfall to PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
The game is a first-person horror title that centers around a first night in a new home. Players take on the role of Victoria, a wife and mother who has moved with her family to a new city complete with a big new house.
Since her husband and kids will be arriving a day later, she gets to spend the night, alone, in the new place. Only, things don’t quite go as expected.
Much like other horror titles where you travel through environments and uncover clues and interact with objects to progress, you’ll need to do the same thing here in The Nightfall.
You’ll collect objects, solve puzzles, and attempt to survive the night.
Given that these kind of horror games are in short supply on the Nintendo Switch, I can easily see how this sort of game would likely be enticing for some gamers who have been bereft of the first-person, jump-scare titles on the Switch, but it seems like this is the kind of game that’s a dime a dozen on PS4 and PC.
In any case, The Nightfall is $39.99 over on the Nintendo eShop and on the PlayStation Store for PS4. Alternatively, you can grab the PC version, which is discounted by 50% off over on the Steam store during the Thanksgiving Sale, so you can get it for just $12.49.
