Hollow Knight Silksong Faces Criticism Over Cheap Twenty Dollar Price Tag

Hollow Knight Silksong has come under fire from video game pricing expert Cassia Curran for potentially launching with a twenty-dollar price point. Curran argued that pricing such a high-profile metroidvania so cheaply sets an unsustainable bar that actively damages competing indie studios.

According to Curran, selling a massive production like Silksong at budget pricing forces smaller developers into a corner where players constantly devalue their work in comparison. She claimed that bumping the price by an extra five dollars would give other independent creators much-needed breathing room across digital storefronts.

If you were hoping that games would remain affordable without industry consultants scolding developers for consumer-friendly pricing, this debate will only intensify. Team Cherry has yet to lock in an official launch date or final price point across PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox.
