The Walking Dead: Saints And Sinners Gameplay Trailer Has Some Impressive Mechanics

After Activision failed with The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, which was made by Terminal Reality, and after Overkill’s The Walking Dead failed, there’s still some studios trying to ice skate uphill with a Walking Dead first-person shooter; that studio is none other than Skydance Interactive. The outfit is trying their hand yet another The Walking Dead game.

The newest title to likely flop like a fresh flounder out of a shallow river is called The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners and it’s a VR title being made for the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and Microsoft’s Mixed Reality headsets starting January 23rd, 2020.

The game is also scheduled to release in late 2020 for the PlayStation VR HMD and the Oculus Quest. IGN tossed up the first gameplay video for the title, which you can check out below.

The trailer actually isn’t that bad.

First and foremost, there are player-view arms and hands, which is a very welcome sight. Too often VR games will go with either disembodied hands, or no hands at all, and it really takes the player out of the experience when there’s just these floating digits or objects moving around the screen.

As far as the gameplay is concerned, there are some neat elements at play.

For instance, it’s possible to grab the zombies and stab them with sharp objects, or even break bottles over their head and impale them with the broken glass.

There are a variety of weapons that you can acquire, along with a mixture of stealth oriented gameplay and melee based gameplay.

I’m not a fan of VR titles, but at least The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners is fairly well polished, and it looks like it could be fun to play.

The only thing left as a question mark is how locomotion is handled and whether or not the AI will give players an actual challenge or if they’re going to be cardboard targets.

As mentioned, you can look for The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners to launch first on PC for VR HMDs starting January 23rd, with a PSVR release scheduled for late 2020.
