Ahegao clothing just can’t catch a break these days. Three more anime conventions have banned ahegao clothing, or rather, clothing that includes anime characters making orgasmic gestures.
Bounding Into Comics did a recap of all the recent conventions that have banned the clothing items, following conventions like SunnyCon Expo banning any article of clothing containing ahegao expressions.
Colorado Anime Fest posted up the news on January 15th, 2020, stating that the reason they banned the clothing items was due to feedback from staff, attendees, guests, and “industry”. In other words, some crazy, mentally ill SJWs complained about the clothing items and so they banned it.
As you may know, we are a con that tries not to have too many rules. We made this change based on feedback from staff, attendees, guests, and industry. We appreciate your understanding and support.

On January 16th, 2020, Anime Milwaukee also chimed in with their censorship of ahegao clothing.
Across several tweets, Anime Milwaukee explained…
“Beginning w/ #AMKEthe13th, we will be adjusting our Costume & Clothing Policy: Graphic sexual imagery—such as ahegao and similar designs—is not permitted to be worn on the con floor. We are also providing a clearer diagram to illustrate permitted minimum expectations w/ cosplay.
“We know that some may not agree with this ban. The world and social climate has changed dramatically over the past couple years, and as an event that hasn’t always gotten it right in the past, we adamantly believe conventions must adapt as well.
“We aren’t the first con to implement this policy, but we know we won’t be the last and we’re proud to be part of the early wave.
“View our full Clothing, Cosplays and Props Policy: http://animemilwaukee.org/about/clothing-costume-props/
“Clarification: we’re seeing some confusion on cosplay. Save for this ban, we did not change any rules on cosplay. The diagram is an illustration of the same policies we’ve had for years.
“UPDATE: We’re seeing some confusion on cosplay requirements. Save for this ban, we did not change any existing rules on cosplay from previous years. We have removed the diagram because it was causing more confusion than it was helping. We appreciate the chance to clarify.”
As is typical of the Twitter crowd, lots of psyche-ward worthy mental patients with danger hair and problem glasses were in the feed praising the decision to ban articles of clothing, not realizing that the slippery slope of censorship will eventually one day to come back and bite them in their disgusting and unwashed rears.
Just two days later Anime Detour made a series of tweets, virtue signaling their willingness to jump on board the censorship train, proving that they’re neither anime fans nor normal human beings.
Across a series of tweets made on January 18th, 2020, they wrote…
“Hello Attendees,
“As we come closer to con we have reexamined some of our policies. We pride ourselves on being a family friendly convention, and because of this we have decided to follow suit of some of our fellow conventions and further clarify our Costume Policy.
“We will not be allowing clothing with graphic sexual imagery, such as ahegao and other designs like it, on any public space in our convention hotel. This policy will be in effect for our 2020 convention and all future conventions.
“We understand some may not agree with this, but we feel this policy is necessary to continue to provide a place for all ages to enjoy.”
Hypocrites flooded the thread to use the excuse that Anime Detour was a family-friendly cosplay convention and therefore ahegao attire should be banned since it’s not family friendly.
Now this excuse would work had Anime Detour not jumped into the response threads to clarify that sexy cosplay would still be allowed, just not ahegao clothing.
Our Cosplay policy is staying the same. This is specifically about the ahegao clothing and other designs like it. So as long as your bodysuit doesn’t have those designs no worries!

At least one person had the common sense and the balls to call out Anime Detour on still allowing sexy cosplay while banning ahegao clothing.
Rather see that famous shirt then skimpy cosplay, your policy makes no sense, if you want to protect kids you must ban skimpy cosplayer’s also.

If you’re going to use the “think of the children” excuse then you better be consistent across the board. But in this case, we’re not seeing that consistency at all. Instead the conventions are picking and choosing what to censor – thots can get away thotting up the causeway for cash and photographs, but real otakus and weebs can’t wear ahegao clothing.
We used to call that discrimination.
Worse yet is that we’re seeing this kind of censorship take place at anime conventions, where this type of clothing should be allowed.
If this were normie-filled, blue-pilled comic conventions then I would at least understand that those convention owners are weak-sauce cuckolds following the standard rules of the majority. But anime conventions enacting censorship on attire at a gathering that caters toward the niche audience who actually enjoys that content? Well that’s like banning lightsabers at a Star Wars convention.
Anyway, anime conventions are lost. They’re been co-opted by the same mentally ill degenerates that propagate sites like ResetEra, KiwiFarms, and Reddit.
Basically, if you want to attend a real anime convention where ahegao attire isn’t banned, it looks like weebs are just going to have to make their own and gatekeep any SJWs from attending by allowing content and clothing that trigger the crap out of those meatbag mongrels.
