Adam's Venture: Origins, 1920s-Themed Adventure Game Coming Soon To Nintendo Switch

Soedesco announced that Adam’s Venture: Origins, the puzzle-oriented platforming-adventure game that previously released for Steam and the eighth-gen twins, will be making its way to the Nintendo Switch both digitally and physically.

The game will retain the third-person adventure mechanics that were originally present in the 2016 outing for home consoles and PC. This means that Adam will move around stiffly, only be able to traverse through linear sections that have been opened up to players, and not be able to jump over objects the developers didn’t intend for you to cross.

While the game has its obvious shortcomings from a design perspective, they decided to revisit the original 2009 outing’s adventure and upgrade it with an all new grappling hook and improved visuals. The one thing most people can agree on is that the game looks good on PC. Unfortunately that didn’t quite seem to translate so well to the Switch version based on the trailer, which you can check out below.

As you can see, the puzzles are still intact and the exotic locations spread around the world during the roaring 1920s look a little… fuzzy.

The trailer itself is in 1080p and 60fps, but I don’t know if that’s going to translate into the actual gameplay on the Switch. Given that it’s a single-player title set within linear environments, I would like to think that the developers could achieve 1080p at 60fps.

One thing that Vertigo Games absolutely did right beyond a shadow of a doubt is that they ensured that Adam’s companion, Evelyn, still looks hot.

Adam's Venture Origins - Hot Chick

To be a studio located out of the Netherlands I’m surprised that they made Evelyn as attractive as they did. Many European studios these days have been moving away from hetero couples, especially hetero couples that feature attractive females.

These days the characters either have to be in interracial relationships, gay, lesbians, or Muslims in order to appear in media, but here we have a straight white couple globetrotting together, which is a huge breath of fresh air compared to all the other propaganda nonsense we’ve been blanketed with in recent times.

Given that many of the user reviews for Adam’s Venture: Origins notes that the game is short (around four hours), has a lame ending, and the controls are kind of stiff. I don’t know if this will be worth picking up for the Switch unless you’re really starved for a 3D adventure game with a healthy dose of puzzles.

In any case, you can look for Adam’s Venture: Origins to launch soon for the Nintendo Switch.
