Back in late 2019, the amount of woke nonsense was more than evident during X019, and one of the reveal announcements during the SJW event was Microsoft and Dontnod Entertainment’s Tell Me Why. Well, as of today, we learn that the forthcoming mystery adventure title about a girl that believes she’s a boy will see its episodes release weeks apart from each other.
If you don’t know, Tell Me Why explores a family with problems in a small town in Alaska, where players must solve a mystery as twin “girls.” Tyler and Alyson Ronan use their “extraordinary” bond to unravel memories of their troubled childhood, where the former has transitioned into a “man” due to her messed up upbringing — which shouldn’t come in as a surprise.
Speaking of the main characters, both Tyler and Alyson are playable, and according to game director Florent Guillaume, there are choices sprawled throughout the narrative-based mystery title that changes the overall story.
And on the topic of the story, folks will hit a wall every time they complete an episode since the game won’t release as a full product. If you are interested, the wait time before another episode will be “a few weeks in time.”
This information comes from tellmewhygame.com, where we learn that three episodes will release somewhere between three weeks of each other at launch.
So, I bet you are thinking, “Why can’t the devs just release all the episodes at once?” Well, here’s what Guillaume had to say about that via the above link:
“As fans of episodic TV shows, we understand that having to wait for that next episode can be an exciting thing but also very frustrating. We’re hoping to find the right balance for players: giving them enough time to share their experiences with Tell Me Why with their friends and the community, while also ensuring that that wait does not become frustrating. We definitely want the community to have enough time to discuss, speculate, and build on their experiences – in just enough time to enjoy the wait between episodes! Because of this, we hope fans’ adventures will be greatly improved with a short wait in between each part of Tell Me Why’s story.”
The executive producer, Arnaud de Pischof, chimed in and offered his take on episodic releases:
“We also want to make sure fans have time to finish each chapter before the next one releases. In playtests, we’re seeing that some people complete a chapter within two or three hours – but some players who really want to dig deep into the experience take much longer, which is great! We don’t want fans to feel rushed by the release schedule.”
Anyway, you can check out the social justice game right here, if you haven’t seen it already:
Lastly, Tell Me Why will come out as a multi-chapter or episodic game where three chapters will release sometime this summer across PC and Xbox One.
