Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Cinematic Premier Trailer Reveals Eivor As The Protagonist

Ubisoft has released the official Assassin’s Creed Valhalla “cinematic world premiere” trailer. The upcoming game is set during the late ninth century, where players can assume the role of a female or male Eivor. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will release in Q4 2020 for PC and current and next-gen home consoles.

According to Ubisoft, the game will show two sides of the Vikings. In other words, the brutal and more sensible sides will be on display, as King of Wessex — Alfred “The Great” — leads his men against Eivor’s clan in the old days of England.

With that said, the latest trailer shows Eivor paying homage to Odin and getting ready to battle King Alfred’s troops. The trailer also showcases the return of the hidden blade against the formidable “Ringleader” as seen below:

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla throws players axe-first into ninth-century England, an age of warring kingdoms and Viking conquest. As Eivor, a fierce Viking raider, you’ll lead your clan to build a new home amid England’s fractured dominions. Launching Holiday 2020 on PS5 and Xbox Series X, as well as PS4, Xbox One, PC [via Uplay and the Epic Games Store], and Stadia, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will let you raid, conquer, and fight for glory in a mysterious, brutal new land.

As for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla‘s key features, the game is billed by Ubisoft to be an “RPG” that allows players to shape the growth of Eivor while influencing the world around said character.

The publisher/developer also boasts that with every choice made — from political alliances, combat strategy, dialogue, and gear progression — players can carve their “own path to glory.”

Furthermore, players can also explore “the brutal backdrop of England’s Dark Ages” through the forthcoming game’s open-world. In this open-world, players can raid enemies, grow settlements, and build up political power.

Moreover, Ubisoft details some of the things players can expect from the game’s combat system:

VISCERAL COMBAT SYSTEM: Dual-wield powerful weapons such as axes, swords, and even shields to relive the ruthless fighting style of the Viking warriors. Brutally decapitate your foes, vanquish them from afar, or stealthily assassinate targets with your hidden blade. Challenge yourself with the most varied collection of deadly enemies ever found in an Assassin’s Creed game.

The ability to sail from the nebulous shores of Norway to the kingdoms of England (and beyond) will be an option in this installment:

A DARK AGE OPEN WORLD: Sail from the harsh and mysterious shores of Norway to the beautiful but forbidding kingdoms of England and beyond. Immerse yourself in the Viking way of life through fishing, hunting, drinking games, and more.

Players will also find that they can launch “massive assaults” against Saxon troops and strongholds throughout England. Additionally, this means you can perform quick/surprise attacks from a longship and raid enemy territories for extra resources:

LEAD EPIC RAIDS: Launch massive assaults against Saxon troops and fortresses throughout England. Lead your clan in surprise attacks from your longship and pillage enemy territories to bring riches and resources back to your people.

As mentioned above, you can construct, build, and upgrade specific buildings. Ubisoft claims that the game sports “deep customization” when building up certain structures in your settlements, which includes the following:

GROW YOUR SETTLEMENT: Construct and upgrade buildings that allow for deep customization, including a barracks, blacksmith, tattoo parlor, and more. Recruit new members to your clan and personalize your Viking experience.

Given that Eivor can be a male or female, the option to create and customize a unique Viking raider is a thing in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. This means players can share their customized Viking online with friends or other people to use during raids:

MERCENARY VIKINGS: Create and customize a unique Viking raider within your clan and share it online with friends to use during their own raids.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will release for PC via Uplay and the Epic Games Store, PS4, Xbox One, PS5, and Xbox Series X sometime in Q4 2020. You can learn more about this game by hitting up ubisoft.com.
