Crusader Kings 3 Adds Bisexuality, Asexuality, And Child Sexuality Preferences

Paradox Interactive has been slipping further and further Left in recent times. There was the whole incident over the White Wolf fiasco, which required an entire restructuring of the brand after the authors of the book tried to paint a real life world leader as someone committing atrocities against LGBTQIA+ people; and then there was the incident involving them stepping in and banning a user mod for Stellaris that they claimed was “discriminatory”, as reported by MCVUK; and then there was them kowtowing to critics of the Crusader Kings franchise’s famous “Deus Vult” tagline that they’ve now claimed is “racist”. Well, adding to those offenses of moving further Left is the addition of sexualities and sexual behavior in Crusader Kings 3, which also includes child sexuality.

PC Gamer caught wind of a developer diary update from Paradox Interactive that talks about all of the “diversity” they’re including in Crusader Kings 3 centered around religion, sexuality, and gender quality. PC Gamer took the opportunity to take digs at heterosexuality and even The Witcher 3 for not being filled with black people before praising Paradox Interactive for adding options that only Liberal Progressives would be excited about.

The dev diary post explains…

“Sexuality provides added spice to character behavior and motivations, both in real life and in CK3, and it will also affect what is considered sinful or even criminal in a Faith in the game. It’s great for drama and intrigue, and in CK3 we’ve given sexualities more granularity. In addition to heterosexuality and homosexuality from CK2, characters can also be bisexual and asexual. Sexuality is no longer defined by a trait, but has its own system, which makes it easier to handle for us and more visible in the interface for you. It also means that we do not frame heterosexuality as the default in CK3, which was also important for us.

“Children develop their sexualities around the age of 10 and once set, it will not change. It’s worth noting that we don’t model sexual and romantic attraction separately in the game, so a character’s sexuality sets both their sexual and romantic preferences.”

To illustrate their point, they show a little black person (I can’t tell if it’s supposed to be a boy or a girl) talking about their sexual awakening.

They further talk about the way their sexuality system works in the game, explaining…

“We do however differentiate between sexual preference and sexual behavior in-game. A character’s sexuality in and of itself can never be criminal, but certain sexual acts can be. For example, if a Faith’s “View on Same-Sex Relations” is not set to “Accepted”, two men who have sex will get the “Sodomite” Secret (no matter their sexuality). While the AI doesn’t pursue romance or sex with someone they’re not attracted to, the player can sometimes choose to act against their sexual preference (albeit with a penalty, and it can never lead to a lover relationship). This means a player’s heterosexual male character could get the “Sodomite” Secret if they seduce a homosexual or bisexual man.

“We have two Game Rules related to sexuality: “View on Same-Sex Relations” and “Sexuality Distribution”. The former is very similar to the “View on Gender” rule I mentioned above; it can change all Faith’s “View on Same-Sex Relations” from their historical defaults to “Accepted”. The latter can change how common each sexuality is. The settings are “Default” which means Heterosexuality is the most common sexuality, “Equal” which makes all four sexualities equally common, and one setting each for Homosexuality, Bisexuality, and Asexuality which makes them the most common sexuality instead of Heterosexuality.”

They also go on to talk about faith, mentioning how they’ve added new forms of Hinduism to the game, and how sexuality ties in with faith. They claim that you can be homosexual but so long as you don’t act on homosexual behaviors, then the faith won’t act out against you. Sort of like being a gay, Liberal pedophile hiding among the ranks of the Catholic church; so long as they don’t catch you diddling little boys then they won’t act out against you.

Alternatively you can alter all of the settings of each of the faiths and how they behave against homosexuality.

No real gamer would ever even ask about adding in sexual preferences to a grand strategy game, especially for kids.

It’s the same thing with adding “diversity” to the portraits. Paradox’s focus on “diversity” in “gender representation” really has no place in a grand strategy game, and this sort of rhetoric is indicative of convergence. We all know what this means, even while Centrists™ claim there is “no agenda”.

In the blog post they write…

“Women are also more visually present in Crusader Kings than ever before. We have some awesome loading screens with a diverse bunch of characters, for example, but the biggest impact comes from the new event window. In CK2 we had lovely event illustrations, but the drawback was the lack of variation when it came to characters. In CK3 we use our gorgeous character models to bring the events to life, which will showcase the rich diversity of the cast of your playthrough in the event windows.”

They also attached an image so you can see what their “diverse” characters look like.

This reminds me of a historical game rewritten through the lens of postmodernism.

I have no idea why anyone would be interested in focusing their 4x campaign on the sociopolitics of the Cornhole Commissars, but in [current year] that’s the only thing the Left and all of the ideological Centrist slaves that follow beneath them care about.

Expect to see this kind of degeneracy invade more games, more movies, more cartoons, and more media as the dial on the Overton Window continues to veer far Left.

Anyway, the grand strategy game is set to release at some point in 2020 for PC.

(Thanks for the news tips June and David)
