Next-Gen News To Appear Sooner Due To E3 2020 Cancelation, As Per Report And Analyst

After the cancelation of E3 2020, a lot of companies and vendors could no longer reveal their plans for the physical side of the event, which included news on next-gen content. Well, despite E3 2020 no longer happening this year, it looks like next-gen info isn’t too far off according to a new report and an analyst that has connections to people in the games industry.

As you may know already, due to COVID-19 concerns, a lot of companies are taking measures to prevent further problems from occurring. With that said, events such as E3 2020 and Anime Expo 2020 are no longer set to take place this year.

Although plans were well underway for the above events, it looks like announcements — for some of the expos — will still happen without facing major delays. However, that is if we can go by website screenrant.com and self-proclaimed social justice warrior and analyst Daniel Ahmad.

The outlet and the analyst report that we could see news on next-gen games and consoles earlier than expected, with the former having this to say:

“One games industry analyst says that the information vacuum left by E3’s absence will be filled sooner rather than later. Daniel Ahmad took to Twitter to share the below tweet, claiming knowledge that the cancelled conference’s scheduled announcements “have been moved out of that single week,” with some of them being moved to take place “much earlier” and others pushed back to “much later” dates. While admitting that some public reveals will still take place as previously planned, Ahmad also claimed that the “first proper next gen console/games showcase is much earlier,” which would be an unprecedented and exciting development in such an uncertain time.”

And on the topic of Ahmad, the man that boasts his pronouns in his Twitter bio, he had this to say about the next-gen console/games info:

With E3 cancelled, a lot of the planned reveals / announcements have been moved out of that single week.

Some are now much earlier, others much later. Some still during E3 week ofc.

The first proper next gen console/games showcase is much earlier too.

This is the one time I will actually add a caveat, for the last sentence in this case, as we are living through an unprecedented situation and this is the one time where external factors such as COVID-19 could actually change plans right at the last minute. But we’ll see.

It’s unclear how soon this “next-gen info dump” will be, but we can conclude that if it does happen — ignoring the caveat given by Ahmad — it’s before June 9th, 2020.

So what can we take away from all of the above? Well, news on the next-gen consoles and video games might surface either in late April or throughout May, but before June 9th, 2020. Nevertheless, COVID-19 concerns could have an impact on this next-gen info reveal, pushing said info to appear later in the year.
