Number Six Cinematic Teaser Trailer Released For Upcoming VR Arcade Shooter

Thailand-based Yggdrazil Group announced a brand new game is in the works by their gaming subsidiary, Ygg Game, called Number Six. The new game will be published by Nigbo Inception Media. They recently released a cinematic teaser for the game featuring a buff, straight white male suiting up while his partner slices and dices a bunch of mutant aliens into mince meat around him. The trailer wraps up with the fully suited up soldier using his high-powered rifle the blast the head off one of the mutants.

The tone of the trailer is fairly lighthearted despite the fact that the mutants look dangerous, but the other suited up soldier – who you don’t get to see much of – uses twin plasma blades to eviscerate and cleave through the opposition. Based on the figure and the curvy design of the suit, it’s pretty obvious it’s a woman underneath, but they don’t make it apparent to focus on that in the trailer.

The idea is that you have access to these stylish exo-suits with cool weaponry in which to fight hordes of enemies. You can check out the trailer below.

We sadly don’t get to see any actual gameplay, but the description for the game explains that Number Six will be a fast-paced, VR arcade first-person shooter where you will have to face off against hordes of robots and monsters.

The story is kind of interesting, as it’s based around an AI that had been gathering samples from various animals, humans, and extraterrestrial lifeforms and began combining them together in a secret project to create the ultimate killing machines to wipe out humanity.

It’s your job to prevent the AI from fulfilling its plan and wiping out all of the monstrosities and hybrid mutations it’s come up with.

I’m not a fan of VR but I like the style that they seem to be going for with Number Six. The real question is if they’ll be able to translate all the cool moves and dynamic action from the cinematic into the actual game.

Number Six - Ready

A few companies managed to do so, like Playsnak’s Wanted Killer VR, where you used nav point markers designated by the VR wands to travel to those points in while sliding across the screen. It imitated the concept of fast travel or teleporation but in slow motion, so you were able to aim, shoot, and attack enemies while zipping and zagging across the arena.

In any case, Number Six looks like it could be promising, but we’ll have to see what the actual gameplay is like at first. At least we know the lead protagonist is a straight white male, a character archetype that’s now verboten in Western-made media.
