Star Wars Episode 1 Racer Launches May 12th For Nintendo Switch, PS4

A lot of new games suck. They’re boring, trite, uninteresting, lack fun, or are filled to the brim with LGBTQIA+ propaganda. Thankfully some of the classics are still untouched and are well worth playing, such as the iconic and extremely fun Star Wars Episode 1 Racer. For those of you who missed out on the game on the N64 you can get an opportunity have a go at the game on the Nintendo Switch starting May 12th.

Star Wars Episode 1 Racer is easily one of the best racing games from the fifth generation. While it didn’t sport the soft-body physics in games like Viper Racing or a bevy of car options like Gran Turismo, it did give you a pure sense of speed and adrenaline the likes of which weren’t found in many other titles at the time. The added bonus of John Williams’ intense soundtrack and damaged-oriented performance that would affect your handling.

My Nintendo News picked up the story from over on the official Star Wars website, where there’s a brief interview with Aspyr producer James Vicari talking about some of the changes they’ve made and how the game has been updated for today’s generation of consoles, sans the Xbox.

One of the big changes is the different control scheme options you can select from for the game, specifically allowing Switch owners to juggle between what setup works best for them.

They don’t talk much about the PS4 version, and I doubt that version will be celebrated much given Sony’s anti-gamer policies, but for sure a lot of people are excited about replaying the 20 year old game on the Switch.

It was originally hinted at in the last Nintendo Direct, but now we have a solid release date on when it will arrive.

I’ll be looking forward to getting my hands on the game come May 12th.
