Disney wanted to create a Star Wars that subverted expectations, and in part, they succeeded. Fans’ expectations of a good film franchise with worthy sequels were subverted along with investors’ expectations of turning a profit from the franchise’s acquisition. Following The Rise of Skywalker, few regardless of their political orientation are pleased with the state of the Galaxy Far, Far Away. Leaving merchandising rights near worthless and the entire affair in the red.
Yet there is hope if the latest information from cultural defender Doomcock turns out to be true. As impossible as it may sound, Lucas Film has a plan to undo all of the damage done by the sequel trilogy, along with restoring fans’ interest in the franchise. That plan that brilliant but straightforward plan is to declare the sequel trilogy and Solo movie to be a potential alternative timeline.
During episode 13 of Star Wars Rebels Disney introduced the concept of the Veil of the Force. This mythical dimension connects all realities, all potential timelines, and all of space. What LucasFilm is rumored to be planning according to Doomcock’s source, is to use the Veil of the Force to declare the sequel trilogy its own timeline and permanently disconnect it from the rest of Star Wars.
This will be familiar to those that played the final expansion of Postal 2, where Postal Dude wakes up from a 12-year radiation-induced coma having had horrible visions of a terrible future. That referenced future was Postal 3. Soon to be called Legends, the sequel-verse for Star Wars will be reduced into horrible visions of a terrible future.
Rumor Evaluation: Likely True
Disney is well aware of the damage the sequel trilogy has brought to the brand, as are investors. Several circumstances give this rumor a lot of credence. Most important of which is Disney is in desperate need of financial income. Currently, the company is taking out Billions in loans and new debt offerings as their parks have ceased being the stabilizing force they previously were. Making matters worse as previously reported, Disney Plus is not making money.
With only 15 million paid subscribers, the service only generates $33.5 million quarterly. For the third quarter, it costs the company $1.1 Billion. Leaving Disney no longer in a position where they can continue to squander the potential of their franchises.
Other information has surfaced that they have brought George Lucas on to help with the franchise. Some information says he is only aiding with the second season of The Mandalorian. Others claim his involvement is more extensive, with him assisting the course correction of the franchise with Filoni. Regardless of the scope of his involvement, he has gone on record stating he hates the new Trilogy. Equating its creators to slave traders.
The only real question is whether this will happen before Kennedy’s tenure is concluded or afterwards. Kennedy herself has lost whatever leverage she had over Iger after Disney was formally sued for sexual misconduct and rape. Though Doomcock has not put for this new insider information on why Kennedy’s tenure may be shortened, it is likely because of these lawsuits and her bringing Weinstein’s assistant in to produce another woke project under Iger’s nose.
Right now, Disney has more intrigue than a spy thriller, so it is anyone’s guess how events will play out. That said, at present, Kennedy is unlikely to come out on top.
