A&E got woke and is now going broke, not only losing half its viewership after dropping the show Live PD, but also losing all of the advertising revenue that came along with airing the show.
According to the Washington Times, who did a quick a dirty rundown of the news, between July 11th and July 19th A&E’s viewership was down to 498,000, a 49% drop-off in year-over-year ratings.
They saw a 55% decline in the 18- 49 demographic, and a 53% decline in the 25 – 54 demographic after canceling Live PD as a response to the demands from Cultural Marxists to “defund the police” and to “cancel” police-oriented programming on national and cable television.
But things get even spicier, as covered by Tim Pool in a video he did on the subject matter.
Further down into the report over on The Wall Street Journal, which was published on July 24th, 2020, it was revealed that Live PD accrued $292 million in advertising for A&E back in 2019. During the first quarter of 2020, they managed $95 million in advertising thanks once again to Live PD.
The Wall Street Journal quoted part of a statement they received from an A&E spokesperson following the news that the network lost half its viewership, and with it all of the advertising…
“In a statement to The Wall Street Journal, A&E called the drop a ‘temporary hit in the ratings’ that it expected given the success of “Live PD” and that it has been mostly replaced by reruns. The network said it has always been able to ‘find new hits and reinvent ourselves.’”
Since A&E is co-owned by Disney, it should come as no shock that they’re willing to throw money away in order to promote a very specific Social Justice message.
Remember, for Cultural Marxists it’s not about the money, it’s about the message.
Tim Pool makes a good point, though: how long will shareholders be willing to bleed money from parent companies that see their subsidiaries going broke?
This brings up the possibility that either 1) the shareholders don’t care about losing money because they’re converged, or 2) they’re being told lies about the profitability of the companies and aren’t doing any due diligence to follow-through with where the money is going.
No matter what the case is, A&E got woke and now they’re going broke.
