Honey Badger Radio Lawsuit Involving Mary Sue Goes Back To Court In 2019

[Correction: The article previously stated that Hannah Wallen made the update, but it was actually Alison Tieman]

Alison Tieman from the Honey Badger Radio program published a video recently explaining where the lawsuit stands against The Mary Sue and the Calgary Expo. It turns out that the media outlet and expo organization are now threatening to counter-sue the Honey Badger Radio for defamation, due to a tweet that one of the members of HBR put out that said “We won”.

Tieman explains in the 10 minute video that those hoping for justice against the Mary Sue and Calgary Expo for attempting to smear the name of the Honey Badgers after Calgary Expo kicked them out of the convention, will have to wait a while longer… February, 2019, to be exact.

They’re still collecting funds to keep Honey Badger Radio alive, even in the face of the counter-suit seemingly aimed at taking the program down for good. [Correction: A counter-suit hasn’t been made yet, but it has been threatened.] The Mary Sue and Calgary Expo are threatening a defamation suit based on the “We won” tweet, even though it was taken down shortly after it was posted on Twitter.

Previous to this HBR met in court with the Mary Sue and Calgary Expo back at the end of November, where it looked like Mary Sue and Calgary Expo would settle. However, when the tweet was made exclaiming that they had won (ahead of the ink on the deal being dry), a counter-suit was launched for defamation.

They’re now collecting funds through the Feed The Badger port, in hopes of keeping the anti-SJW program alive.

The lawsuit originally came about following Calgary Expo kicking the Honey Badger’s out of the convention for asking a question during a feminist panel, even though they had paid for an exhibit. The media tried to rearrange the story and push the narrative that the Honey Badgers were there to harass people. This all occurred back in 2015.

In late 2016, after the Honey Badgers filed the lawsuit, they were given a court date in January of 2017. The next trial date was then pushed all the way to November of 2017.

While things did look to go in the favor of the Honey Badgers, the threat of a counter-suit from Calgary Expo and Mary Sue will definitely stave off any cries for victory.

Tieman believes that this is a ploy to tire them out and eventually either make the case go away or drain the Honey Badger’s resources.

A lot of people really wanted this to be a success as a means of curtailing the false narratives spread about people who stand up and against the media’s propaganda-themed narrative fueled by third-wave feminism and Social Justice Warrior rhetoric. However, it appears as if any means of proclaiming victory will be put off for now.
