Mortal Kombat 11 Keeps The Benevolent Sexism Alive With Kollector’s Sexy Man-Nipples

Ladies and soy-filled gentlemen, we have a prime piece of male meat real estate on display tonight. Hailing from the arid shores of Outrealm, and working as a relic acquisition officer for the incomparable Shao Kahn, we have the muscle-bound, nipple-baring, four-armed pugilist with that sexy midnight blue skin tint, Kollector.

The Kollector is a weaselly-armed fighter with a penchant to scratch and claw his victims into a puddle of mush. His mauling ability is amplified with a lantern that allows him to do much more than engage in the prestidigitation of making glowing orbs appear. He can rightly teleport, fire projectiles, and even grapple opponents into close proximity with the richly ornate device.

You can see the Kollector in action below to get a better glimpse at the fighter in action.

You’ll note right off the bat that Kollector’s default costume is quite the skin-baring digs. He has on a prestigious looking cowl that covers his head and shoulders, but leaving his bare, muscular six-pack and pectoral muscles exposed for all to see. Those blue nipples are out and about, proudly on display like Milla Jovovich’s bee stings in the 2009 issue of Purple Magazine.

He’s also sporting some jorts, complete with a golden belt, and loose leather straps. His muscular calves and bare feet are completely exposed for all to see.

They showcased Kollector’s secondary outfit along with his moves and a couple of other characters in the latest Kombat Kast.

It’s quite obvious that dressing him up or dressing him down wasn’t even an issue for the designers, as they had no qualms about exposing plenty of skin for the four-armed fighter.

And as usual, his secondary is just as exposed – actually more-so – than his original. It’s a gilded light armor getup with the pelvis curtain and shoulder harness, not unlike Kotal Kahn’s gear.

So yes, this is another case of the developers definitely taking liberties with showing a lot of skin for the male characters while keeping the females duly covered up. They mentioned already why they covered up the females, saying that it was due to making the game more “mature” and “respectful”, and that they shouldn’t be fighting in “scantily clad items”… but only the women. The men can fight in whatever they want, whether it’s full body armor or loin cloths.

YouTuber Liana Kerzner called NetherRealm Studios’ double-standards “benevolent sexism”, since the developers feel as if the women have to be duly covered in order to be considered “respectful”, while the men get to wear whatever they want. The only character showing any kind of noticeable cleavage is Cetrion, but she’s designed to have an older lady’s face that looks like Aloy from Horizon: Zero Dawn. There’s also a lot of accessories she’s wearing to cover her up so even then she’s still not as exposed as many of the male fighters.

But this is the standard that many studios operate under in today’s converged society, where Social Justice Warriors dominate mainstream media and their pro-puritanical and anti-sexy female standards are now the status quota in Western entertainment.

If you’re okay with the convergence of entertainment – so much so that even in an ‘M’ rated game like Mortal Kombat the women have to be covered up but the men can wear whatever they want – then you can look for the game to launch digitally physically on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on April 23rd.
