The normie force that is PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Fortnite can’t stop the shekel loving Activision’s Call of Duty: Mobile. The FPS game is raking in money as if it were raking in leaves during autumn. The mobile spin-off of the annual shooter has amassed over 148 million downloads and $53.9 million in revenue during launch month.
While children steal their parents’ credit cards to help bolster PUBG and Fortnite’s revenue, it seems like it’s to no avail when dethroning the new kid on the block that is CoD: Mobile.
Website sensortower.com reports that its study on CoD: Mobile in the past month sees the game average 4.9 million downloads daily across both the App Store and Google Play Store, peaking on October 1st, 2019, with nearly 24 million downloads in 24 hours — setting a new “first-week” record.
The analytical site says the U.S. contributed the most to CoD: Mobile downloads with 23.6 million installs. The second most indulgent region for the mobile FPS title is India — with 16.2 million downloads.
Putting downloads aside like the last trend in the games industry, CoD: Mobile managed to accrue $53.9 million. The U.S., once again, led in this metric with $22.8 million spent within the first month.
In addition to revenue, the land of the rising sun, best known as Japan, came in second place with $7 million spent on live-service content.
Before showing the chart that depicts CoD: Mobile trampling over its competition like there’s no tomorrow, it’s best to note that this is yet another trend amongst the entertainment industry. In other words, the game will peak (if it hasn’t already) and will die down until a replacement steps in later.
Last but not least and as promised, here’s the current trending game, CoD: Mobile, which eclipses its counterparts on the market (PUBG and Fortnite) by a significant margin as per SensorTower:
