Indiana Congressman Jim Banks wrote a letter to Attorney General, William Barr, asking that they enforce obscenity laws to censor pornography on the internet to make it less accessible for children and the general public in America.
On December 6th, 2019, Banks posted the letter on Twitter for all to read.
The prevalence of obscene pornography in our society has consequences, especially for our children.
It’s time we start talking about it & it’s time to do something about it.
I’m proud to introduce a letter calling on AG Barr to prosecute obscenity & make it a DOJ priority 👇 pic.twitter.com/4cfUXAe2sT

The relevant portion of the letter reads…
“[…] Those U.S. laws prohibit distribution of obscene pornography on the Internet, on cable/satellite TV, in hotels/motels, by retail or wholesale establishments, and by common carrier. Yet the enforcement of obscenity laws was stopped by the Obama Administration when Attorney General Eric Holder disbanded the Obscenity Proescution Task Force in the Criminal Division.
“In August 2016, then-candidate Donald J. Trump signed the first-ever anti-pornography pledge. This asserted that, if elected, President Trump would enforce federal obscenity laws to stop the explosion of obscene pornography. This pledge has so far been ignored in the Trump Administration with the result that the harms of illegal pornography have continued unabated, affecting children and adults so acutely to the point that 15 state legislatures have declared that pornography is causing a public health crisis. It is imperative that you follow through on this important campaign promise made by Mr. Trump.”
“Given the pervasiveness of obscenity it’s our recommedation that you declare the prosecution of obscene pornography a criminal justice priority and urge your U.S. Attorneys to bring proseuction against the major producers and distributors of such material.”
The main issue is that there’s no clearly defined line laid out by Banks as to what is “obscene” and whether or not fictional material would be included in that.
Are they going after the furries? The lolicon? The shotacon? Or are they just targeting porn involving real actors and actresses? What sort of fetishes are they going after? Will this apply to each state or will it be a nationwide affair?
As we’ve seen from the United Nations – an organization know for raping thousands of children over the last several decades – they’ve decided to target fictional material in order to waste resources and time fighting something that isn’t real while their own district officials, aid workers, and peacekeepers go around sexually assaulting kids with impunity.
Well, supposed free-speech platform, Gab, was quick to support Banks in his quest to get “obscene” pornography censored, banned, and those involved prosecuted.
Praying for you @RepJimBanks, this took courage and leadership.

This isn’t too surprising given that Gab previously promoted some anti-porn rhetoric, and even before that they publicly came out against lewding lolis, calling it “demonic garbage”.
At this point the Christian Justice Warriors and Social Justice Warriors both want the same thing, and they’ll stop at nothing to achieve it (and in some ways they already are achieving what they want).
Unfortunately, many Centrists™ will obfuscate the discussion by pushing one agenda or the other to prevent people from fighting for their rights, so most times any efforts to combat censorship are either stifled or or stonewalled by Centrists™, ultimately leading to everyone losing their rights, which is playing out right now with Big Tech.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t gather just how far Gab was willing to support this measure to censure porn, since they have us blocked on Twitter.
