Star Wars: Rise Of Skywalker Ad Gets Woke By Promoting “Gender Equality”

I don’t know what space goblins and hand-flares suffering from priapism has to do with the new-wave sociopolitical activism from lonely feminist and Twitter landwhales, but the heads at LucasFilm seem to think that the galactic hocus pocus from the Star Wars universe is somehow tied to the promotion of “gender equality”.

It all started with a tweet from the Spanish version of the Star Wars Twitter account on December 16th, 2019.

El final de una saga legendaria es también una película que fomenta la igualdad de género. No te pierdas #StarWars #ElAscensoDeSkywalker, 19 de diciembre en cines. pic.twitter.com/fvtxdlxNZ3

This was in light of the film opening in Peru, as reported by En24.news.

Twitter user Dataracer translated the promotional ad, pointing out that it states that…

“The end of a legendary saga is also a film that fosters gender equality. Do not miss #StarWars ElAscensoDeSkywalker, December 19 in cinemas.”

I have no idea why gender politics even needs to invade the promotion of Star Wars.

How did a brand built around fun-filled space magic somehow turn into a dinner room debate topic about gender quality?

The only thing advertisements like this will do is deter people who want nothing to do with all of the identity politics ruining entertainment media from attending the premiere of the movie. I’m sure diehard fans will show up regardless of what LucasFilm says or does, but ads like this will not help convince the on-the-fence crowd trying to steer clear of such nonsense.
